i thought van gaal wanted to go the 3-4-1-2 route

in which case i think another defender will come in today so the team will look something like

------------------------dea gea-------------------------------
-------evans----------rojo-----------newcb/jones
------------------------------------------------------
blind--------------------------------------------------shaw
-------------di maria--------------herrera/mata---------------
------------------------rooney---------------------------------
-----------falcao----------------------rvp--------------------

anyway enough of money bags utd onto my team leicester

rumour is we are taking powell on loan for a season im not exactly enthralled by this the guy seems to have travelled a lot to lower league clubs suggesting maybe he is not ready for the prem yet . we need players ready to go with prem experience in our fight to stay up

Still can't believe we're getting Falcao.

Why aren't Arsenal making a massive offer for him?! They might win the league with him up front.

That's never bothered Gimp.

Ooooooooooohhh... :p

Back to Falcao - I don't quite understand the logic in a loan deal from Monaco's perspective... It's not a particularly high fee, if the £6m + wages fee is to be believed, and in a years time he'll be 29 - hard to believe he'll still be worth £50m+.

Unless there's some further financial penalty for NOT activating the buyout clause, then I'm somewhat at a loss. If cashing in was Monaco's idea, then surely waiting for January when City could come in with a full cash bid would be the way forward?

I'm sure it'll all become clear in time (right?!).

Its a long season and utd need 3 strikers. Gives them options. Rvp can end up being on the sides for a week or two. Good compition I say.

A lot of journalists seem to think this signals the end of Rooney as a centre forward and now he'll be a midfielder. He can certainly do some sort of job there but I'm not sure he'd be great. Blind and Herrera looks a solid midfield two, anyway.

corrected due to liklihood of him going under the knife

Im with you - he can do a job there, but imo it wont be great.

Arsenal are probably the one big team who are in dire need of a world class striker, it's bizarre.

He would really suit them as well. He's one of the best (if not THE best) at putting the ball in the net with either foot or his head. Good movement and can carry the ball. A 'complete forward' (sorry Baz :p).

To be fair to me I did say this before today :D.
