There aren't. Even if Monaco pay him, he'll be taxed here.

As it says in the link I provided, even non residents are taxed on earning made outside the UK if it's linked to their activities in the UK. It's what has put off big name athletes from competing in competitions in the UK as even a % of their endorsements are taxed here.

Again, because I thought I was clear but obviously wasn't, that is only relevant if they pay him while he is in the UK... they don't have to.

They have the option to pay him upfront for a year before signing the contract, or paying him after he goes back there next year.

It's only relevant if he's actively getting paid. If they have a contract set up where he gets paid £90 a week(the minimum allowed in the league) then in the next financial year he gets paid £180k x however long the loan contract is, when he isn't in the uk nor liable to pay tax here, then that is a way around it.

Also non residents aren't taxed the full amount on money made outside the uk, they are taxed what they believe is their share. IE Bolt comes to the uk, competes, wins, and gets paid in advertising but winning the UK competition effects how much he gets, they believe they are owed a share of his taxation(as do many countries) I believe the issue with the UK is they usually want an absurd share compared to most countries operating similar amounts.

if he gets paid £10mil say three days ago, and £20k for the next year in the UK, he may pay tax but it's likely to be on 20k, not the 10mil. With most situations with tax not being vastly different in spain to here, there wouldn't be much point delaying payment and it's rare loan deals for such high wage players go through. But the combination of Monaco, tax haven and Falcao could mean for all parties it's worth delaying things by a year.

Utd pay the wages + 10% to Monaco, Monaco stick it in a trust to not be accessed for a year(it's not like he's going to struggle financially any time soon as a result), in a year he gets 10% more than he otherwise would have got for waiting, Utd save 40% on matching his wages by paying him weekly in the UK, maybe Monaco get a bonus million in loan fee for the effort.

Yet Man Utd and he would be committing tax fraud because as a matter of fact the sums paid into trust were in respect of UK employment

Apparently we're wrapping up a loan deal for this guy, likely meaning Scott Hogan did in fact do his ACL on Saturday - poor guy. Looks like an excellent acquisition.

Well, if this Betinho can keep on scoring overhead kicks and back-heel flicks, then I'd be happy!

Official, signs on loan for the season. We now have a player who has a 60m EUR buy out clause! :p

No offence DM but I am sure the legal advisers at both Monaco and Man Utd have all this covered.

Where did I say they didn't precisely, and why would I get on the phone to tell them this if I think they've done it already Baz.

My entire point is that is precisely what I think they'll have sorted out to save themselves paying him pretty much double in wages here which then get taxed at 40%.

Seriously, would you all insist on having 5million straight away(do consider that you'll have millions in the bank already) or take 6-7mil but wait a year to be paid? I'd take that deal. If you were Utd, if you could find a way to pay him via Monaco at 0% tax and save yourself 30-35% of his wages... wouldn't you?

If I was Man Utd I would prefer to avoid the bad publicity of a tax evasion case.

Half of the team evades tax constantly, no one gives a crap. Rooney was involved in the whole 22% tax thing for years... I can't remember what came of it, his name didn't get dragged through the mud, no one cared. The fans still thought he was brilliant and loved him for england regardless, Walcott did it, Sturridge did it. These things only matter when you hate the person to start with and can then smack them over the head with it, when it's someone you love or an England star, everything is fine.

A lot of them also got involved in that whole film investment tax thing, I think HRMC was planning to claim all that tax back, I can't remember if they planned to or did infact get any money back over the being paid in image rights at corp tax rather than through salary from the club.

Almost every bigger club in the league, including Arsenal, has used every means at their disposal for YEARS to avoid tax. In the early/mid 2000's it was a large part of salary being paid by offshore companies into trust funds or whatever the hell it was till the league finally put a stop to that. They've all done it for over a decade in every new way that comes up.
