Cleverley is a moron. Does himself no good sitting in the reserves.

That guy outside Carrington has been a machine, there all day! (Poor *******)

Poor player, getting paid more at Utd to sit on the bench than sit on the bench at Villa. Does himself no good? Really? He's getting rich and if everyone is to be believed and he really is awful, he's not certain to play for Villa is he.

He'll stay at Utd till his contract is up getting every last penny then move somewhere probably on a little less money somewhere with some idiot manager going "he was at Utd, he must be decent then". He'll end up with more money than leaving half way through a contract for less money now.

DM, lay off the viagra.

I was talking about him furthering his career/progressing, not deepening his pockets.

Sport are following on from the Liverpool based UK journos in reporting that we've got a deal in place to sign Valdes. Hope this happens.

If he's crap, then he won't actually progress from Utd, he'll be on a bench anywhere, it's only about the money now, that was my point.

You called him a moron when ultimately his goal could be to make money(like most people) and thus isn't a moron but maximising the money he can get.

A lot of players leave places like Utd more quickly on cheap deals to prove themselves, and promptly get found out, then end up at some lower league club making a couple k a week and getting in a year what they could get in a month sitting on the bench at Utd. Not every player can and will improve.

He's maximising his earnings, with absolutely no certainty that going to Villa will suddenly make him a better player who will play more. How many players actually walk away from 10k's a week to go for less money to improve their careers? Despite Torres fall from grace rather than leave and prove himself in a different club, in a different system that might suit him with a fresh start, he took the money. 90% or more of players take the money.

Cleverley's right to hold out for a good deal, imo. Soon he'll be able to walk away from Manyoo and sign on a Bosman, so will get a better deal because of that (he'll essentially get a cut of what a club would have had to pay for him).

Didn't martin Keown make most of his money through his transfer fees? As I understand it, as long as you don't hand in transfer request the player gets a percentage of any transfer fee.

I can understand why people think he's a risk but for me he's been the best keeper in the world for the past decade. He's is epic, he has saved Barca over and over and over. They have won champions leagues that with a lesser keeper they may have easily not made it to the final. He's truly brilliant. I'd kill for Arsenal to take the risk and sign him he's that good.

Hugely bad luck for him that he got injured basically after deciding to move on from Barca even though barca said they'd offer him a contract over summer if he wanted to stay. Even with the injury he's SO good I'm surprised a couple dozen clubs aren't throwing money at him.

I don't understand these players who are happy to sit on the bench earning lots of money when they could be playing regular football at a club somewhere else for a bit less money. It's so naive and short-sighted for a career that lasts less than 20 years in most cases. I'd look back on my career and regret sitting on a team's bench for years when I could have been out there playing.
