I was going to question that given that you've spent a fortune without signing a dominant midfielder or a decent CB but then I realised how bad your previous windows have been.

This was just a taste of the madness to come. Wait till January and next summer. We don't care about the CL so if there are players that cup tied from teams that have perhaps gone out of the CL at the group stage we can buy them.

We should have plenty enough to get top 4 now even ignoring CB. CM I think we are fine at the moment. We will have to see how Blind does but if he does alright and we can keep Herrera and Di Maria fit we will be fine and dandy.

We have also given Arsenal Welbeck so I don't think they will be too hard to pip for fourth.

I admire your confidence. Having a load of attacking talent doesn't guarantee success. You're going to need to find a system that fits them in and gets the best out of them as well as mask your iffy midfield and dodgy defence.

Seeing as you haven't signed a replacement how is that a good thing?

As average as he might be, surely he's better than nothing/Fletcher/Anderson?

Dat optimism. You maybe right....but then we saw how majorly wrong Frank was last season saying the same thing :p

Saying that we would pip Arsenal to fourth? I think most of us assumed we would even without any decent signings over the summer. Moyes managed to squeeze as little as he could out of the previous seasons champions though. We have a better set of players than last year and a good manager.

The main reason we haven't had a great start is that we are missing almost every new signing we made over the summer and their backup was shocking. Cleverley and Fletcher is one of the most boring, one dimensional, back passing pile of crap you could have in the middle of the pitch.

Imagine how Moyes would have done with last seasons team minus Carrick, Vidic, Evra, Ferdinand, Rafael and Rvp.

Like Herrera, Blind or Di Maria?

Herrera has looked good in midfield and people seem to be dismissing Blind, who played holding central midfield last year and was named Dutch FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR.

With Carrick due back I'm not as worried about midfield as the media seem to be.

Most people are looking at our midfield of the last few games and deciding that we need people to replace them without acknowledging the fact that we have got our two first choice CM out and we have bought 2 more CM players since then as well.

We have Carrick, Blind, Herrera and Di Maria who can all play there / its their primary position.

Eh? Blind IS a dominant defensive midfielder, Di Maria is a dominant attacking midfielder, Herrera isn't weak by any means.

Utd desperately needed, striking cover(Welbeck is rubbish :( ), a DM, a LB(at least one), a CB, a player capable of running with the ball in attack, providing good delivery, another central mid....

they got all those things and more.

Di Maria, Blind, Falcao, Shaw, Rojo, Herrera

They are all either already absolutely top class players, or very good players who are at an age that they can still improve further(to varying degrees). They got up to three players to help out at LB, Blind's versatility could prove invaluable.

He did what Wenger/Fergie had/have been unwilling to do, take the sentimentality out of the team. Welbeck... awwww, they've all known him since he was 8 or something, so he ends up playing loads but being on 85k a week, trouble is, he's ****. Fergie couldn't get rid of him, he came in, had a look at everyone, was fair, then told the crap to **** off.

It's also nuts of Nick to be banging on at length about 3-5-2 not working early in the season.

Firstly when LVG started the system, Smalling, Shaw, Herrera, Carrick and Rafael weren't injured.

If you take Chelsea's two fullbacks, cb's and central mid, guess what, they'd perform worse as well. If they were playing 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, or 5-5-0, or any other formation, losing almost the entire defensive line and the central mid would have caused similarly poor performances.

I honestly can't understand how anyone can say "iffy midfield" when Utd just replaced the entire central midfield. Di Maria, Blind, Herrera.... of the teams Utd have put out there will be what, 5 changes pretty much when everyone is fit to the squads that played, and it will be the 5 worst players in each of those games who will be not starting, replaced by excellent players. The starting teams so far this season will bear basically no resemblance to the starting 11 say 2 weeks from now, let alone 1-2 months from now when the longer term injuries are back.

I don't get how anyone could call the transfer window anything other than brilliant myself. Two players who are some of the best players in the entire world in those positions in Di Maria and Falcao, Shaw, the most promising(and already pretty damn good) left back, Blind, one of the most impressive DM's around, young and with more to improve, Herrera, an excellent player, Rojo, at worst a more than decent defender/fullback, at best he will improve and be an excellent signing in a position where all the existing CB's are injury prone idiots.

I think that is what Barry was referring to before DM went ape...

I can only think that Vidals knee is dodgy or we would have bought him earlier / at some point before this morning. Money clearly isn't an object in most of our transfers and Vidal is one of the best / the best at what he does.

CB wise I have no idea how many really top quality players there are in that position. There are a good few I am sure but how many are available and how many would go to a club without CL football.

Considering the players you attracted this time around £££ speaks...Hummels would have come for 300k but I have no idea if he's available. Consistent PL defenders would have come I'm sure and would be better than Evans and Jones.

Best CB in the league Vertonghen I'm sure would have jumped ship.
