So glad someone took Welwide £16m rawr!! :D

Now for Clev,Nani,Hernandez,Zaha to get perma moves and i reckon were looking in good shape. I will take Falcao even with his age and knee if it means just having 3 strikers and Wilson.

Rooney,RVP,Falcao not a bad three i guess.

Eh, where did that one come from? When I went to bed last night the news was he definitely wasn't coming to us..

Exactly what I heard too, I think what happened is that Everton came in after you and with the Martinez connection previously agreed a deal for x amount, and then after agreeing decided to say - no, actually we will only agree 1/2 that - and so Man Utd said **** ***

So AV came in with a last ditch loan (rather than purchase) until Jan

( According to the BBC ....I think thats where I read it anyway)

To be fair Clev 's contract runs out next summer anyway so its a bit meh after Jan anyway (just didnt want him hanging around for another year)

Nani I suspect is going to be difficult to shift because of his insane wages but who knows what he might do for SL this season.

Maybe not to Real (long term) but I think Chicharito is gone one way or another, great lad and I really hope he does well for himself.

Zaha is a strange one, he may outgrow CP quite quickly but I just have this suspicion he was a bit of a flash in the pan and Utd wont ever see him again in the squad. I will happily eat my words if it does happen though (given his age and inexperience it could go either way)

3-5-2 has been a necessity because we have not had any fullbacks available.

The 3-5-2 most important positions are the full backs as they have to play as attackers and defenders doing basically 2 jobs in one.

The formation just does not work without solid wing backs who can do both jobs and the last time i checked Man United dont really have any good full backs that can do both?

Valencia should on paper be half decent as a wing back but he's seemingly lost the ability to actually take people on. He just checks back inside, doesn't pass it with his left foot, gets confused and then smashes an aimless cross into the defenders legs.

Shaw should be a good wing back but he's not even an accomplished full back yet (one season) so it's too much to ask him to just start firing on all cylinders from the off. On paper those two in form and playing well are good enough for the system but like you say without those providing an overlap on the attack you become extremely narrow. Juve don't have amazing wing backs (on paper) yet make it work just fine. Just about the players understanding the system and what's required and then also being in good form. I don't think the United wing backs have either at the mo.

Aston Villa must've been hammered last night when they got off with Cleverley.
Now they've sobered up they're probably hiding indoors with the phone off the hook and the curtains drawn hoping he doesn't come round.

I support Juve and having watched the formation for 2+ seasons having average wing backs it didn't work fine, we won the league because we are in a poor league.

All of our attacks that went out wide a lot of the time came to nothing and at the top level without decent width it's hard to create anything at all.

We struggled badly at times to really create much but got over the line purely because our starting 11 was better than the other teams in the league.

An example of a good wing back off the top of my head would be Ashley Cole a couple of seasons ago. He can attack and defend and has a good engine we have a CM playing as a LWB and a RB playing as a RWB who is a very good player but struggles to do both roles well on his own.

The formations most important players are the wing backs and i dont think it works very well if a team has average wing backs.

Serie A isn't that bad. Juve have done well and yeah their line up isn't perfect but they didn't win the league solely because they had better players. My point was you can make the system work if you have people who understand what's required. Even if those players aren't perfect for the system. Isla (when he was there) and Lichtsteiner are both alright. Not amazing but do a job. That's what united lack at the mo really. Their wing backs aren't doing a job and everything is becoming condensed as a result.
