It's not really mad. If we finish 7th we won't be able to replace him adequately (I'm not sure it's even possible to replace him full stop). I'd much rather we kept him.

Lots of reports in Uruguay today that Chelsea have agreed a deal for Cavani.

It won't be 300k anymore than he's on 250k now. The 250k came about from all the add on's he could potetially get, all of a suddent that became gospel as though he was on 250k per week as a salary.

How is that pulling our pants down? its only another 50k or so more than he gets currently, and he is easily our best player. Pull the other one.

As Rotty mentioned, it's the length of the contract. It's all good and well paying Rooney top money while he's a top player but do you really think Rooney will be a top player in 2-3 years time with the way he looks after himself, let alone 5 years time?

That said, as Robbo touches on, Utd also couldn't afford to lose him. They were in a no win position and if these figures are true, Rooney/his agent have taken advantage of the situation.

Should link it to his weight. The more pounds Rooney adds on the less pounds he gets in return.

Some truly ridiculous comments here on Rooneys weight. Would love to see the shape of all these armchair fitness freaks who consider him "fat".
Regardless, I don't think the reported deal is sensible for MUFC.

Rooney isn't fat but if you saw him on the street and didn't know who he was, you'd never expect him to be a professional athlete. He has a very endo-morph body type.

and there goes Evra.

Evra to leave Man Utd despite contract extension

Patrice Evra will still leave Manchester United this summer despite triggering a contract extension at Old Trafford. The 32-year-old is expected to move to either Monaco or Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

Was really hoping Chelsea would splash out on Ibra instead of gambling with Cavani who hasn't really impressed at PSG.

Mourinho confident on Cavani and Shaw

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is hoping to wrap up the signings of both Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani and Southampton full-back Luke Shaw before the 2014 World Cup.
