The Man Utd transfer rumours are getting silly already. A whole summer of this! :(

Current situation:

Fabregas - Barca seem open to selling him but reports of our interest are coming mainly from the Daily Mail. 'Sport', the dodgy Barca newspaper are quoting the Daily Mail I believe and have Fabregas to Man Utd on the front page.

Kroos - up in the air but very much a possibility.

Muller - said he has a 'special relationship' with Van Gaal but is focused on the World Cup.

He's a more than good enough player and considering the players you lack at Utd he's a big step up, I just get the impression you'll be overpaying in terms of wages. I don't think I've seen a hint at his price, while only having a year left drives prices down, you still get 20+ mil deals. I don't know if they are talking about a 5-10mil cut price deal or more like 20-25mil. Eating bigger wages short-ish term if you get a cut price deal would be less bad.

Just seems a bit mental for the club to end up with Mata, Kagawa and Kroos who all prefer the same position and Rooney who isn't very good there but seems to refuse to play anywhere else. He could really end up playing anywhere, it depends who else Utd buy. If they don't get a good central mid pair he might well end up there, if they do buy central mids I can see him taking one of the wide roles and trying to like Robben, wide but coming inside a lot.

£20+ mil and 150+k wages and I think it's a bit silly, £10-15mil and 100-130k, not too bad.

The weaker 10's will leave i think my favourite player Kagawa has his number up. He is too weak on the ball and in a team you might as well use a Kroos instead who can get stuck in further back. Ive saw Kroos make a few crunching tackles in his Germany outings. Wayne Rooney has the touch of an elephant for being a 10 as well imho now the only real ten we have worth keeping is Juan Mata.

Hopefully Rooney does go wide again he has no choice he is tied to us for life and the last time he went wide it was our 2008 best ever team with 4-3-3 Rooney Tevez Ronaldo up front. At times we might see Rooney RVP Janujaz instead which is a similiar sort of lineup with a wide striker and a central striker and a winger as the front trio. But we need a midfield to supply them this is why United cannot penny pinch on Kroos and wont.

Also i saw your account on TeamTalk and the post on Yaya. Is this a case of Arab African Racism you think? I think all the race hints and then the Shiekh denying him has convinced him the world and arabs hate black players. I am almost certain after the world cup he will blame the Arab owners.

Despite how much of an utter joke our transfer dealings were last summer I still got the impression that we actually did make some inroads into luring Cesc to Old Trafford. I mean it rumbled on most of the summer and there were reports that we made multiple bids - something was obviously giving Moyes/Woodward encouragement to keep trying.

Garay to Zenit is done according to his agent and the Zenit squad profile page :p

One of those players that is forever linked with everyone but has now finally moved clubs!

I think something similar. Apparently Luis Enrique was just asked to clarify Cesc's future and refused, so that will at least fuel the rumours they want to sell him. The Catalan press don't really like him, and nor do the fans. It's pretty strange to say the least.

Hopefully we're near the front of the queue if he's available, Arsenal have no shortage of players in his position so I can't see them spending a significant sum of money to get him back there.

Quite what we'd do with both Fabregas AND Kroos though, I don't know, but one of them would be ideal.

Arsenal have room for Fabregas. There is no way we would not try and sign him, CL and returning to the club he is adored at or Utd. I think Liverpool would be more attractive if they keep Suarez. IF...

Plus according to rumours don't we have a clause to get him back on the cheap? ;)

Or they were just deluded? :p Utd have even less to offer him this year than last other than a better manager.

I've not seen anything I'd consider reliable about that clause, there might be one, though.

For the record, I don't think we'll get him and he'll likely go elsewhere, but I'll keep hoping.

No neither have I but it will be interesting if utd bid. I'd like to see him back in the premier. I'd prefer it was with Arsenal but still be good to have him back.

DM might explode if fab goes to utd and wenger doesn't bid... Win win situation for us lol

I can't believe they were so deluded to just keep trying with improved bids for two months if Barca had just said "**** off".

If that had been the line from the start I'd have expected them to go and whinge at FIFA if we'd have still been pointlessly harassing them eight weeks later. :p

I'm thinking if/when Suarez leaves Liverpool I should be able to hear Purdy from 250 miles away. :p

First part, Kagawa, meh, it's not really about being weak on the ball. bayern/Barca's system of passing doesn't rely on strength on the ball, it relies on having the players around them moving intelligently enough to always have a pass on. Their strength is simply keeping the ball out of reach with constant passing, not holding on to it. Kagawa I'm sure could excel in that system.

It's tough to say who is better out of Kagawa/Mata, I lean towards Kagawa because Mata has so many lacking parts of his game, and talk about weak on the ball. I've seen Kagawa track back and make more tackles than Mata.

On Rooney, dear god he's awful in the 10 role. Against Bayern his absolute lack of finesse was both embarrassing for him and Utd and funny to me. He kept dropping deep then playing the same slow, poorly aimed pass directly at a defender, he did it over and over. It's not that he should play in that role at all, it's that even when he was started as basically a lone striker, he kept dropping deep rather than being the guy available for others to make the pass in behind to him.

On teamtalk, no idea what you're talking about there, not on the forums. I think the only other football related forum I've been on is football365 and I haven't posted there in years.

a lot of people seem to consider Kroos pretty versatile - couldnt Kroos and Fab be part of the same midfield ( admittedly Im thinkimg of either a 4-3-3 or even a 3-5-2, rather than 4-4-2)

I still think its unlikely we would get either but imo I would still buy both if at all possible rather than gamble a reported £30m ish on an unfit / still injured strootman ( even if it means playing Carrick in the same role for another 6 - 12 months) until the situation is clearer

I'd play them together in central midfield, with a defensive player behind... we're getting into fantasy land now though I fear. :(

If anything he would add more depth and strength to our squad, could rotate with Ozil in the squad. I hope Wenger does try and sign him back if he is up for sale.

If Wenger doesnt sign him then id rather see him go elsewhere rather than go to Utd or another PL club. Perhaps Germany, Italy or France.

As for the clause, its rumoured we have first refusal on him and im sure i read its about £32mill or thereabouts. Pretty much like the Vela situation, can buy him back for £4mill if im not mistaken.

cesc would cost 40m if arsenal did want him they have more important things to worry about like their defence , balauge or w/e hes called the guy with the barca links said there is no first buy option

Article from Balague on the Fabregas situation: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ubs-set-to-scrap-for-barcelonas-cesc-fabregas

The facts are simple. Fabregas can be bought for €40 million. Anyone turning up with that figure can have him, even though his buy out clause is 200.

What we can look forward to now is an unseemly scrap as a number of clubs, almost inevitably from the Premier League, battle to secure the services of the 27-year-old Spanish international.

My information is that Arsenal may think they have an emotional pull on the player, but the first option buy back option they have on him will not force him into anything. It is an option with a fixed sum indicated by contract, but Cesc can ignore it if he prefers to go to another club. Arsène Wenger has been recommended to bring him back by his assistants so it is up to the French manager to put an offer for Cesc. Louis Van Gaal has him as one of his priorities.

Hope we've offered €40m if this is true. :o

Fabregas at Arsenal was an unbelievable player, at Barca he hasn't played half as well as he did for Arsenal imo.

He has good stats at Barca but the performances were just not the same when he was at Arsenal.

Man United need him more than Arsenal imo as they have literally no quality in CM and he would fit very well into Van Gaal's system no doubt.
