Having a chat with my Chelsea friend we think the following

out - marin, mcceachran, moses, mikel, ba, schwarzer

to have conversations with: Kakuta, Chalaboh, Hutchinson, piazon, traore, T.Hazard, Bertrand, Ake, Romeu, Lukaku.

Big question marks: Hazard, Courtois

youngish ones to shine next season: Zouma, Kalas

In: Costa (or other superstar striker), backup GK, a DM (Pogba, Koke, Poulinho:o?) and a left back to replace A.Cole.

Expected starting 11 and subs next season:

--------------------Cech--------------------
--Ivanovic----Cahill-------Terry---------Dave(azpilli)--------------
----------Matic-------New DM------------------
-Willian----------Oscar--------------Hazard------------
-----------------Costa--------------------

subs: Zouma, Kalas, New GK, Salah, Schurrle, Torres or Lukaku, Ramires

I'd expect something like that. It could change quite a bit if we get a new LB and put Dave back in his usual RB position, then Ivanovic would be a 3rd backup full back / CB with Zouma and Kalas.

Chelsea have a big squad and we have a ton of loanees returning. Our assets are huge and FFP wont be an issue for us. It's just who we sell, who we keep for development and who we buy in....

Im not sure about Zouma moving for a sub role, even if he was relatively cheap @ 12m~

Howard Nurse @howardnurse
Cesc Fabregas is NOT on LVG's list of potential #MUFC summer transfer targets (via @sistoney67)

I wonder who we actually want. Van Gaal might soon change his mind when he sees Cleverley in training. :p

Perhaps, but Terry and Cahill were outstanding.

Kalas is extremely highly rated too, we expect him to be around a very long time. I hope Zouma doesn't limit chances for Kalas. Kalas may well end up being RB replacement for ivanovic while Zouma replaces Terry, but then again RB is Dave's natural position.

The summer must be great for sports editors, they get to give all the journalists the summer off and just let monkeys fling their crap at a wall of names and teams and print whatever combination comes out.

That kind of figure for Luiz is absolutely insane, he's totally average.

How many average players do you know that can hit a 60 yard long ball dead on a team mates feet with their weak foot?

He did that several times in the confederations cup last year, where he was being played regularly and had loads of confidence.

He's a CDM/CM though IMO and I said that the first time I seen him play, he's far too good on the ball to be a CB, and he's far too gung ho without it to be a CB.

His best position is in midfield.

In fact if he was average why do Chelsea let him take free kicks regularly and penalties (whenever frank and hazard aren't on the field)?

He's far from average, the problem is people think he's a CB when he's clearly not. I'm glad Rafa saw he was a CDM when he took charge at Chelsea. He's had tons of managers and none of them until Rafa saw he was no CB.

Di Matteo started playing him as a DM not Benitez :p

You sure?

He was sacked in November 2012 and Luiz's first game in DM was in December 2012 in the club world cup under Benitez.

I am a big Brazil fan and follow all their players so I'm sure it was Benitez that first played him there.

Unless you know of any matches before then when he was played regularly in DM? Or did Di Matteo play him there once because of injuries/suspension and his hand was forced to play him there much like Mourinho's was whenever he has played him there.

Rafa was the only manager who picked him above others who usually play there which were readily available iirc.

Such a shame nobody realises he's a midfielder. I have the confederations cup final recorded on my sky box and some of the passes he makes with his weak foot are ludicrously good (he plays CB for Brazil though but all of their defenders are pretty much midfielders anyway apart from Silva, Alves is always in the opponents half as is Marcelo whenever they have posession) and that kind of passing range I've never ever seen before from anyone with their supposedly weak foot. He drops it on a dime from 60 yards away, I would struggle to name 5 CB's in the world who can do that with their strong foot tbh.

I still think we need a forward...I wouldn't want Sturridge playing two games a week for large periods.

Vorm I can understand for competition for Mignolet and to play in cup games.

Is Lovren really that much of a step up to what we already have ?

Lallana would be a great signing, would add depth to the number 10 and provide goals.

I think we need more for the Champions League myself.
