Am i right the deal for Lambert is £9 million for a 33 year old?

No. In fact, you have got none of that statement right.

It's a deal for £4m, and he's 32.

There might be a couple of add-ons, but they won't more than double his price unless he does something ridiculous, like getting top scorer in the league and Liverpool winning the PL!

Lot of rumours of Chelsea chasing Pogba... I think he would fit into the side very well - a box-to-box midfielder to sit alongside Matic in a slightly more attacking role. He's good in both attack and defence, and would give Mourinho plenty of options to change shape mid-game.

That being said, Juve seem to be valuing him at around 65m euros... He's good for sure, but that seems like a lot. I suppose that the Luiz sale makes it financially viable, especially if Ramires is sold, but I'm not sure he's worth it. Paulinho or Koke might be cheaper options for the same role, but at 21 and still improving Pogba could be a good long-term investment.

What do you guys recon? Is Pogba worth anywhere close to 65m? I've only seen him play a few times and he was always good, but that's getting towards silly money.

Sky 'sources' and The Telegraph are both saying they expect Fabregas to leave Barcelona this summer.

I suppose he'll go to Arsenal then without competition, as we've seemingly ruled ourselves out.

Will Arsenal want him though, £30m~ on a position where they've already got decent players?

Begs the question - if we don't want Kroos or Cesc, who the hell is LVG after?

I'm flummoxed - I would have thought he'd jump at the chance to sign Kroos.

I've no idea what's going on either, but I've got faith in Van Gaal, and I'm sure Woodward won't want a repeat of last summer.

I think the only player we've got a realistic chance of signing before the World Cup is Shaw.

I think Southampton are hoping to hold out until after the tournament, like with Lallana/Lambert if possible (although it looks like the latter will be gone within days).

I also expected to start the dead wood clearout but I guess without LVG joining and giving everyone the once over it's hard for him to say.

Why? he's not that good, and Fabregas, this is a day after the Barca president said Fabregas, mascherano and I think Sanchez are all not for sale.

I don't particularly understand the english fan mentality. Crappy english paper prints made up rumour, other sites reprint rumours as if possibly true, english fans work themselves up into a frenzy of that player basically already being at their club... then get disappointed at the end of summer when it again turns out it was all complete bull ****.

Did people not learn from what 1-2 weeks ago when one evening everyone was utterly convinced he had all but signed for Utd, then the next morning LVG apparently doesn't even want him at all.

There is also this mentality of building up a player like Kroos over a few goals against English teams, his record doesn't stand up, watching him more than twice a season you see he barely influences games and shows no signs of being a really massive player for any club that bought him.

Kroos if anything is the boring ish kind of helps the team tick over kind of player, not the Robben/Muller type makes things actually happen kind player. ANyone can do what Kroos does, which is, receive ball pass it on sideways, 5 times a game whack it at the goal from distance instead of passing it and score 5-10 a season off 100 of those shots. Most players would be hard pressed to not score a few goals from distance if all they do every game is shoot from distance.

Kroos, like many other players in his situation is hoping Bayern either don't want the hassle of replacing him so just give him more money, or that some other club is stupid enough to think he's crucial to a great Bayern team and throw huge money at him to join them. bayern appear to be sticking to their guns realising he's no where near one of their most important players, and LVG appears to know this and doesn't want to be one of the stupid clubs that overpays for him.

Was really hoping something would get sorted with Lallana. Looks like So'ton have stalled the negotiations though in the hope he has a good WC and can bump his price. Definitely needs to hand in a transfer request. I know we have other options and targets we will "move on to" if we don't get him, but I like the idea of him coming to us!

He did but to be fair, that's a typical thing to say. The BBC are on the story now too:

Barcelona willing to let Fabregas leave for £30m & his preference is PL return. Arsenal have buy-back option but yet to express any interest

I don't think we'll get him, we might not even try, but we definitely should make some sort of effort. £30m is a no-brainer, same sort of money as Fellaini.

I do think Barca want rid of him, though.

Thanks last night i was reading online and the figure £9 million came up i thought there was definitely something wrong :D

If that's the case, he'd be rotting on the bench at Saints as well though - at least this way he gets a chance to put himself on the biggest stage. He deserves that.

No disrespect to Saints by the way, I enjoy watching them and really like the way they're run.

Different situation at saints, he plays every week and we don't have quite the range of options in the squad! Deal is done though and I don't for a minute begrudge him the opportunity a legend for saints I only hope we kept the movie rights to his story as someone will film it especially if this time next year he has some silver wear to lift ideally the fa cup!

4m plus addons based on his and Liverpool's achievements during his time not a bad deal for a 32 year old when you look at what other players his age have gone for and the fact pochetino thought he was so close to the end he was happy to flog him to west ham and replace him with a slightly deranged Argentinian with an Italian passport!
