Every year the same:

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/fans/faqs/when-does-transfer-window-open-close.html

Players usually complete transfers AFTER on the first of July, as that is when the contracts tend to run to over whole years.

So can we all please remember from now on, we are not playing FM, in real life the transfer window opens after the last domestic match of the season.

I believe that's for registering players with the Premiere League. According to FIFA the FA control the window in England, and everywhere else seems to state 1st July... they can't all be playing FM. :D

Last time I looked all premier league clubs play in the premier league.

As a United fan I'm not panicking, I just wonder who exactly LVG has his eye on. I mean I don't expect a lot of deals to be done on that front until after the World Cup but surely if the right player came along and was available he'd be on the phone to Woodward to go get him - i.e Fabregas.

I don't expect him to let United have another summer of utter disaster, he'll be pushing Woodward to get the deals he wants done when he's actually in the hotseat.

I just wish I could figure out what those deals actually are.

My current thoughts are maybe Schweinstieger or Strootman, but that's just educated stabbing in the dark. :p

[Edit] Even Vidal, possibly?

The last real news about Shaw was the BBC the other day saying we've resumed negotiations, but there's no indication of how those negotiations have gone/are going.
That's what I heard.

I think there's a slight chance we could announce a deal before the World Cup, but it seems Southampton want a manager in place first, as well as Shaw's England commitments getting in the way (which is entirely fair enough).
I think it is more than likely that if we do sign Shaw, it'll be announced after England's World Cup.

Every year the same fallacy is repeated without fail.

The transfer window opened after the last game of the season.
Just seen your link. Didn't realise that. Thanks for correcting me. :)

It's going to be a long, woodward summer.
Hopefully not. Hopefully David Gill has written him some nice prompt cards to follow when negotiating with a club. :D

Madness for Van Gaal to not be interested in Fabregas, another Fellaini summer in the works for United? :p
What, buy a player on the last day for several million more than we could have paid for him a few weeks earlier? Never, this is not Sparta, this is Manchester United! :o

I would be very surprised if Fellaini is still a Utd player come September 2nd. I don't care if we lose a lot of money on him, he needs to go and restart his career somewhere else. As August 31st is a Sunday, I think the transfer window shuts on the Monday.

i quite like it how we seem to be keeping our transfer targets close to our chest, unlike the moyes era of YES WE WANT HIM AND HIM and looking like utter potatoes not getting anyone we actually wanted.
Yeah, it was ridiculous getting linked with practically more players than the rest of the Premier League clubs combined!

Van Gaal will want to win the Premier League. He won't accept anything less. He won't decline to pursue a player like Fabregas unless he's got someone better/more suitable in mind, quite who that is, we don't really know.
Yaya Toure? ;)

I've got faith in him and I believe Woodward has the business sense to get the deals done where required, but it's always tricky at this sort of time before a major international tournament.
I hope Woodward has learned after two pretty awful transfer windows.

Fulham have released Hangeland early (contracted until 2015).

Players left so far: Etheridge, Briggs, Heitinga, Hangeland, Kvist (end of loan), Diarra, Holtby (end of loan), Karagounis, Duff, Boateng, Bent (end of loan) and Riise.

With Kasami, Richardson, Stekelenburg most likely still to go.

Wholesale

Yo syke. :)

They being released because of Premiership level wages? Didn't the club insert relegation wage clauses or was relegation never expected?

Most are end of contracts and we've decided they're not good enough, but a few were on pretty high wages. Sidwell is also out of contract, still not sure what'll happen.

At a guess, some of the wages from above;

Etheridge (£3-5k), Briggs (£3-6k), Heitinga (£30k), Hangeland (£45k), Kvist (£15-20k) (end of loan), Diarra (£8-10k), Holtby (£40k) (end of loan), Karagounis (£13-15k), Duff (£30-35k), Boateng (£10-15k), Bent (£40-45k) (end of loan) and Riise (£25-30k)

So we're saving a shed load, adding in Sidwell at probably £30k/week as well.

End of an era, longest serving will probably be Stockdale now! Two senior defenders left

I can't believe the apparent lack of interest in Cesc. Perhaps LVG thinks he can just make a footballer out of Felliani. He might come good away from Moyes ;)

It would be pretty gutting for the Man Utd squad if LVG was sanctioning signings before he had even taken a training session or talked to them.

I would expect LVG to appraise the current squad and then go after signings
