Excuse me but what is the difference between saying you want to be allowed to leave and handing in a transfer request?

Surely once you want out, you want out?

The difference with him being asked to leave and him submitting a formal request comes down to 1 thing - money. He'll lose out if he forces a move through.

Serge Aurier??, was being linked to Arsenal as well for the past few weeks. But reading around, it looks like his agent said we were in talks with him but not anymore. Could be a ploy from his agent to get more money but hard to say with the silly season of transfer rumours upon us.

He even said a few weeks back that refusing Arsenal would be hard to do, was snapped wearing an Arsenal top as well.

Could be that Arsenal are looking at other options, i know we have been knocked back twice in our pursuit of Juan Fran of Atletico as well. Knowing our luck with dithering Wenger, Jenks could be our first choice RB, which frankly scares the living crap out of me. Hes good but not good enough to start for us.

Go on Ed Woodward. Get in touch. Oh, right, yes. It's Ed Woodward. :(

I actually think it's Van Gaal this time, he might not fancy Fabregas - as the decent Manchester journalists keep saying repeatedly.

I'd like to know who Van Gaal's targets are, as you'd think Fabregas would be a complete no brainer when you've got our midfield.

The Guardian are convinced Chelsea are in for him now though, but Mourinho could be a bit of an issue (as Cesc reportedly doesn't like him). I'd expect him to go there over us though, probably.

Yeah true. The journos are saying that Van Gaal has turned down the chance of Fabregas. Could be some transfer ploy perhaps?

I reckon we're getting a Pogba/Vidal/Yaya Toure treble signing or something! :D

I think at this point, we're going to be waiting until the World Cup is over, or at least the Netherlands are knocked out. Plenty of good options around though, so no need for a panic just yet... :p

Yeah. Heard any more about Shaw? Looks like we'll have to wait until England are out for him to sign so as not to break Hodgson's request to not do transfer business whilst on England duty.

As someone said the other day, possibly you, the transfer window isn't open yet and we are on the countdown to a World Cup. Still I would like to see us sign some players!!

The last real news about Shaw was the BBC the other day saying we've resumed negotiations, but there's no indication of how those negotiations have gone/are going.

I think there's a slight chance we could announce a deal before the World Cup, but it seems Southampton want a manager in place first, as well as Shaw's England commitments getting in the way (which is entirely fair enough).

Every year the same fallacy is repeated without fail.

The transfer window opened after the last game of the season.

While transfers can be completed and signed at any point, I'm fairly sure players can only play after the first of July. To my knowledge it is up to the club the player is transferring away from whether the player can conduct promotional and commercial work before that date (and as a result train with his new team).

i quite like it how we seem to be keeping our transfer targets close to our chest, unlike the moyes era of YES WE WANT HIM AND HIM and looking like utter potatoes not getting anyone we actually wanted.

Yes, people are going into meltdown mode already and there's a long way to go. A lot can change in the space of a couple of months (or even longer).

Van Gaal will want to win the Premier League. He won't accept anything less. He won't decline to pursue a player like Fabregas unless he's got someone better/more suitable in mind, quite who that is, we don't really know.

I've got faith in him and I believe Woodward has the business sense to get the deals done where required, but it's always tricky at this sort of time before a major international tournament.

I would agree. I think last season was such a cluster**** that probably Gill took Ed to one side and gave him some serious advice on what to do.

Its back in the old ways so far it seems of no one really knowing. I dont think we can or that we can even afford to not have a good transfer window so Im not pancking at the moment.

the media do too , amount of stories and rumors they have made so far has generated lots of clicks :p

Every year the same:

Players usually complete transfers AFTER on the first of July, as that is when the contracts tend to run to over whole years.

So can we all please remember from now on, we are not playing FM, in real life the transfer window opens after the last domestic match of the season.

Does anyone truly believe these stories in the media...Fabregas has gone from signing for Arsenal, to Utd, to Liverpool, to City, to Chelski...

Sounds like the media are playing FM if anyone is :D

One less club in the frame :D:
