US: True Detective

Finale didnt warrant 7 build up episodes.

glad i took a load of acid as a youth, what a load of rambling existential tosh.

You don't sit through 7 hours of film in the hope that the last hour 'makes up for it'.

The first 7 hours were fantastic and if they came out and said the final hour would never be aired I'd be slightly annoyed but I'd still recommend the show to everyone.

I thought the finale was quite a fitting end to the show and thoroughly enjoyed my trip through the bible belt of America.

"You're looking at it wrong. The sky thing. Once there was only dark. If you ask me the light's winning."

Sums up the structure of the whole season for me, I quite enjoyed the finale. Pleasantly surprised by a few of the choices made by the writers.

I think the show deteriorated once they left the interview part. Not that it was terrible, it just didn't have the same quality IMO.

I was a bit disappointed by the finale. I couldn't really understand the killer due to his weird voice. It also descended into a typical Hollywood style fight at the end. The "surround sound" creepy voice was just silly. And I thought the green ears thing was related to him cutting grass, and that's how Rust would click with when he saw the guy cutting it, but it was just literally green ears from painting. I would have preferred some more punishment for that sicko, like Rust cutting his face off like he described the Cartel doing.

i think the earlier raid on house in early episode not related to finale kinda of made for this to be anti climatic. i think people expected a bloodbath fight with serious "justice" handed out

overall it was some of the best tv ive seen for a while.

will i be as hyped to see a new season ? not sure, i do like mcconaghy acting style and his partnership with woody worked for this project.

did anyone else feel like it had a Hannibal art style to it?

I thought this as well. But I think it's just because it's very dark and slow paced.

Personally I loved the ending. You don't need crazy twists or everyone dieing to make it a good show. I thought everything was tied up nicely.

Story panned out well, I think they would have wanted to give that evil guy pure punishment, but they both got pwnd by him lol so had to kill him quickly. Overall a great show and a lot darker than your usual cop/detective shows. My only issue is what can they do for the second season and the flow of this.

Without matthew mcconaughey it would not be the same for sure. A good idea for the second series would be to have matthew mcconaughey move to new york and start investigating some large conspiracy there, something completely different. Then have Harrelson move out there to help him or something like that. Just a change of scenery but keep up the same sort of characters i think it would work no matter what they did if they were both in it. Even the supporting actors/actresses were all brilliant.

You got me completely wrong. The 7 episodes were excellent the last was a let down imho, could have been much better,

Glad season 2 will be fresh and fresh faces hopefully brad pitt says the big yes and another big name comes by also.

Absolutely loved the show. Looking forward to Season 2, it's going to be a long wait.

What series should I watch to replace this? Looking for anything similar and/or equally good.

Wallander (UK) if you've not already seen it. Has a very similar persistent eerie vibe to it.

On the third episode and its pretty good. I gotta say that young girl that Woods character is cheating on his wife with has an unbelievable body! Cracking rack as well! Who is she?
