US: True Detective

I'm happy with McAdams and Farrell, I'm not convinced by Vaughn, but then maybe given the right part and script he can surprise us all. McConaughey wasn't exactly that well thought of having done loads of rom-coms and cheesy action films, but look how well he did.
 
Just watched this over the last 3 days.

It took a while to grow on me due to it being extremely slow paced at the start but by mid way through the season I thought it was fantastic.

All in all it is a very good show. Acting is supurb, Direction/ cinematography also superb.

Seems like its going to be a new cast each season, with a complete new story. Not sure how I feel about Colin Farrel and Vince Vaughn filling the shoes of Woody and Matthew....cant help but feel its going to be a let down (or at least not have the same dark intense story).

House of Cards next for me.
 
Using True Detective to distract me from some real world issues today was definitely not a good idea. Dark stuff!

Not sure whether to quit on episode 4 or grit my teeth and go all the way to get it out of my system. :->

I'm getting a new york/pennsylvania vibe from those two actors. It'll be completely different, if the same money is spent in the same places there's no reason it can't be great. They are big shoes to fill though!
 
Should be interesting, I hope they're not trying to recreate the washed up detective vibe too closely to season 1, it could end up feeling a bit samey otherwise.
 
Started watching this for the first time last night, not knowing anything about it apart from it being a cop show with Matthew Mcconaughey in it, so thought why not. Just watching the intro sequence gave me the chills. I just knew it was going to be all kinds of awesome and so far, I am not the least bit disappointed.

The ambience of the show and acting quality is just top notch, especially Matthew Mcconaughey who pulls off the whole "I've seen dark ****, now walk the **** away" character so well. He is cool as ice in this and its always amazing to listen to his quirky accent and use of language.

Just resisting the urge to to watch the whole of season 1 in one go right now.
