Turkish Grand Prix 2011, Istanbul Park - Race 4/19

Just found that video of what they were talking on Five Live about Bruno Senna holding his mobile filming himself driving at my favourite circuit Spa Francorchamps. Don't think he was holding it though, more like it was taped to his overalls or something like that.

Eau rouge backwards is cool. I wonder if its harder going forwards or backwards? I would think the gravity would sling him into the bottom of Eau rouge and end up in a rather nasty mess.

Off topic but is anyone looking forward to the Senna film in June?

Watched it last month and the story of Senna is so inspiring, he was a true champion by all means, as a professional, as a human being, and as a countryman which was all so so important to his fellow Brazilians who were living in poverty at the time. All this has been portrayed in the film very well and defiantly going to see it on the big screen as well.
I am a 48 year old guy and even I shed a tear at the end for the tragic end of this marvellous racer.

I'm not a Senna fan, but even I enjoyed the Senna film. Good stuff.
It also gives us an insight as to just how naughty, drivers were in those days.
If they did those things in 2011, many of them would be receiving bans.

After watching that documentary, I have a lot of respect for Alain Prost.

lets hope the crash for vettel bumps his confidence and hamilton can take a big chunk out of vettels lead if not get ahead.

Nah, Webber's a broken man this season. Vettel's going to give him a pounding in every race from now on IMO.

In fairness, Webber was never in the same class as Vettel. And we are now seeing this, this season. Webber is a racer though, and he likes to have a go and based on the last race, he is certainly capable of beating Vettel, on the odd occasion.

I actually felt that Webber was the stronger of the 2 drivers in the last race.

You're right, I'd forgotten about Shanghai (such a long time ago!). I just think that now Vettel has his championship he's massively gained in confidence while Webber's must realise that was the best chance he's ever going to get. He's certainly not going to be allowed to win a title at Red Bull now that team orders are allowed. He's now a #2 driver and he knows it.

I know its a massive leap, but TATA/Williams tie ups could work. Although I would imagine they would use one of the car brands rather than TATA, and would try to keep the Williams name.

Practice One - Alonso tops wet Turkish session
The rain made Friday morning’s first practice session in Turkey something of a lottery, and as Fernando Alonso dominated it by 1.4s ahead of the Mercedes duo Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher, world champion Sebastian Vettel returned to the pits on foot after heavily shunting his Red Bull on the exit to the infamous Turn Eight.

Highlights - Turkish GP first practice
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso sets the fastest time in the first free practice session for the Turkish Grand Prix while Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel crashes out in spectacular fashion in Istanbul.

Sebastian Vettel suffers big crash in soggy Istanbul
Formula 1 championship leader Sebastian Vettel walks away unhurt from a big crash during first practice for the Turkish Grand Pix as he struggles to get to grips with the wet circuit.

Friday practice - selected team and driver quotes
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso may have set the pace during the wet opening session, but it was McLaren’s Jenson Button who was quickest once some sunshine had dried the track. Defending world champion Sebastian Vettel, meanwhile, had a troubled day with a crash in the morning ruling him out of running in the afternoon. The leading teams and their rivals reflect on their early progress at Istanbul Park…

Webber was No.2 last year as well.
He knew this and repeatedly made sure that media/world knew what the situation was. Vettel was getting preferential treatment, which is something that a No.1 driver is expected to receive. There is nothing wrong with this, of course.

RBR, for whatever reason, just didn't want to publicly admit that Vettel was their No.1, even though they were obviously giving Vettel preferential treatment.

The difference this year is that Vettel has the No.1 on his car and team orders are allowed, so maybe RBR will be more open about their strategies.

sundays race + f1 forum could not be tighter on the timing, manu v chelsea kicks of at 4:10 the forum finishes at 4:20.

Just skip it and watch it on iPlayer after :)

Love how many people are falling short and touching white lines/turf they seem to be holding lots of water for un-suspecting drivers!

Also how nasty are those bumps after 12? ( I think its 12) could easily snatch a wheel over breaking running over those at race pace, could be epic.

Wont be here for qualy, last game of the football season and all that. See ya for the race though people. Finally on at a normal time! :)
