TV Licence Super Thread

Bad move. They aren't Agent Smith from The Matrix, they are salesmen with no power, they make commission on selling you a TV licence or putting you forward for prosecution. They have been known to lie. Just shut the door; don't talk to them.

Just put the letters in the bin and move forward with your life.
Either way if I let them in or not, they are taking a folder filled to the brim with their notices home with them. If it goes anywhere else or in to my own bins the agent will be reported.

The BBC cronies know that if they were ever to have to show adds, or go subscription based, to pay their own way in the world, they'd disappear faster than a wig in a whirlwind.

Isn’t that exactly the point of public broadcast tv?

It can provide programming and particularly news which isn’t tainted by owner self interest.

If you look at how privately owned media behaves then it’s not really hard to see its virtues.

bbc will soon have less competition - farage , reece-mog, lee anderson unemployed.

GB News has reported a £31m loss in its first year on air, on revenue of £3.6m, but its directors remain “satisfied” with where it stands.

In its Companies House accounts for the year to 31 May 2022 GB News Limited reported advertising revenues of £2.97m, digital revenues of £564,000 and sponsorship revenue of £105,664.

However, cost of sales stood at £25.4m and operating expenses at £8.9m, producing a loss both before and after tax of £30.7m. The year before, when GB News reported no revenue, its losses were £3m.

That's how its meant to work but the BBC lost its way years ago. Now even Skynews scores better then the BBC. The BBC has not been impartial in years and the entertainment programmes are mostly a joke. There is very little quality content on BBC now.

I heard the BBC have seen how popular Clarkson farm is and they want to repeat that for themselves. Who wants to bet the BBC mess it up and force a load of nonsense into their version. The BBC is so out of touch I suspect it will be no interest to younger people and alienate older people.

If they are not impartial then who do they represent?

Where did you get Sky News scores better, and for what?

You also need to factor in the BBC keeps the rest of the sector decent to a great extent.

BBC have the advantage like government in many matters in that they don't seem to have to compete. Or this is how its been in the past.

Most had no choice but to pay license fee. There were no other real alternatives. Only watch c4 and itv? Yeah pay up. Even with sky.. Yeah pay up.

Now with true alternatives that have to compete for your cash bbc at suffering. No longer cash they put out dross and just reap the rewards.

My fear is very much that when the licence fee ends it will be added to inescapable Council tax, or broadband. Effectively removing your ability to choose.

Can the government let the BBC fail? Because its fairly clear that's the eventual outcome. And absolutely the case if they turn it to Netflix subscription model.

It should be allowed to fail in my opinion. With so many other options it's had its day.

Skynews scores better at being least biased. The BBC had the most amount of complaints last year with 11% of adults complaining. Ofcom have over the year put out harsh reports saying BBC corporation’s political coverage isn’t fair and equal and from what I recall the BBC own internal reports which I am pretty sure I linked here last year also mention the problems. The BBC do not keep the rest of the sector decent, they cannot even keep themselves decent. The BBC have lost the plot.

EDIT: Looking back. Last years watchdog report consistently rate the BBC as less favorable for impartiality, adding that complaints about BBC content have more than trebled. BBC's own annual reports have mentioned how they failed on impartiality and bias.

Complaints doesn't mean they aren't impartial. Often being impartial is unpopular.

It does when backed up by there own internal reports, Ofcom reports and media bias fact check sites which rate the BBC as worse then Skynews. The BBC has gone downhill, its still leagues better then many other sources but its no longer the top rated place it used to be. Pretty sure if you search this thread plenty of evidence and reports have been linked to over the years.

Or, they could just say no, they aren't obligated to take any rubbish away from your home. Good luck reporting them for that.
Considering I have over 300 letters in the space of 6 years, they cant take their **** with them and stop harassing me, that's what it is by the way, a form of harassment.

Why are you here trying to defend them?

So you're a hoarder then. Have you told them to stop writing to you? Have you informed the police of this harassment?

By "defend them" you mean point out the fact that some random civilian doesn't have to take away your rubbish?

Many of us have told them to stop and they do not. Keeping the letters is great evidence if you take them to court for harassment as many have.

I also keep mine. Filled an online for and the paper form to tell them I don't own a TV.

Still get the envelopes with threatening headings every few weeks, utter retards.
