Glad everyone sees the funny side to it. :)

It is a fun car once you suss it all out and find the limits to it. Still being swapped for RWD soon though. :)

Just taking my time this time.

VXR's are fun but can be a handful. I'd have one, without any gay stickers :p

Tyres... I had Toyo T1R's on mine when I bought it. RUBBISH!

I was skint after buying the car and insurance so put on Kumho KU39 Ecsta Sports... Great tyres! I will definitely be sticking to these, really pleased with wet and dry grip and it suits my driving style, wearing well so far and cost me 290 all fitted balanced etc.

Oh yeah. I think my clutch is going... really heavy pedal, creaky pedal also which is odd... and sometimes a bit notchy changing gear when on the boil especially and sometimes wont go in properly, but the pedal feel is worrying and I don't like the creaking!

Also the release bearing is making a noise when the clutch isn't pressed, seems to be getting worse but not totally aweful yet.

1) how long will it likely last? :D
2) how much will it cost for a new clutch inc fitting as a rough estimate for those who've had it done?
3) which clutch kit is best to get?

Well my 5 year stint as an EP3 owner ended today. First person to come and see the car bought it. :( I will miss it, gave it one last blast on the demo I gave the owner, and it felt good as ever.

Only had it up since last Sunday, so good going I think.

Thinking of doing the Major 75,000 Mile service myself.

ABP Motorsport want £380 to do the following.

6th service / 72,000 / 75,000 or 72 month
Labour charge £165.00
HONDA Oil filter & sump washer £11.50
Fully Synthetic 5w40 Oil (5lt) £38.00
Brake fluid (Castrol Response) £13.00
Fuel Filter £29.50
HONDA Air filter £19.50
NGK spark plugs £59.60 (or HKS plugs £82.00)
HONDA (MTF) Gearbox oil £27.00
Consumables £8.40 (Screenwash, parts cleaner, disposal fee)
Total £371.50 (NGK plugs) or £393.90 (HKS plugs)

Pretty handy with a set of spanners. Not sure how to drain the brake fluid out though :o

Mate give Tegiwa a shout in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, not all that far from you really.

TI motorsport, their price on valve clearances alone is only a measly 48 quid! They do the NGK plugs for like 35 quid etc.

Worth a shout and their rep is good thus far :)

Also if you're picky you have clutch fluid to do, aux belt maybe.. no one seems to list these on their price lists.

Hope you got a good price Danza :)

I run Fuchs Titan Supersyn in mine its 22 quid for 5L on Opie Oils.

I used to run Pro S but it's not worth it for how I drive and it's twice the cash!

Kerbed one of my freshly refurbed wheels today thanks to some curry delivery chap in his micra :( Keep feeling like I'm wasting my time with this car as I have a list of stuff I'd love to do but due to 12 hour days all the time I just cant get it to any place between opening hours :(

Cool stickers braaarr, wish I was soo funny!

those stickers are appalling. I really dont understand why people put things like this on their vehicles, like the intel style 'vtec inside' logos or the stickers that get put on VAG cars that are so heavy they actually break the suspension on the car :o

Rybo, without ripping on you as VXRs are simply not my cup of tea, your car is a clean example from what I can tell. why put all that tat on the back of it. it just looks... chavvy :(

If I am being honest mate, you were looking at paying much, much more for an FN2 only last month, so if that money is still there, then paying ABP should surely be the best idea. Sure, anything you are capable of doing yourself, get it done to reduce the cost. but you got the car at a storming price so it makes sense to take it to a specialist.

I would much rather take my car to ABP over a main dealer.

same here, pedal is close to the floor :(

2) how much will it cost for a new clutch inc fitting as a rough estimate for those who've had it done?
3) which clutch kit is best to get?

1) depends how you drive and how badly it is effecting the drive-ability of the car. my car is approaching 70k so its about time it got changed anyway.
2) a new Honda clutch is £130 ex vat on cox [a link was in my post about clutch kits earlier in the thread] fitting is the killer. TI want £411, I haven't asked ABP yet but the cheapest quote I got was £200 if I supply my own clutch + MTF
3) from what I have seen, Honda OEM kit is the best to go for unless you are running any serious power mods and even then it is apparently good for ~300BHP [this is merely stuff I have read online so take as much salt as you need]

I will personally be going for the Honda OEM or maybe an Exedy OEM depending on whichever comes out cheapest.

This!

I'm missing the Type-R as this Scirroco I'm currently running about in simply does not have the fun or more race car feel the Type-R had, but saying that this Scirroco is a very very capable car, tons of grip.

Easy Gibbo, you sold the car already.

/Sales Mode Off

:)

Haha, but seriously the Type-R was a car that felt alive and danced, it was also fun without the need to push on too hard, I certainly get why they are popular choice even though there are faster more capable other cars but which are just not as much fun to drive. I found the Type-R also requires more of the driver to get the most from it, which is a good thing in my book as it means it keeps you hooked longer.

I've got a Scirroco 2.0Tsi here which without doubt has the edge in a straight line and also has a little more outright grip in medium to long sweeping corners as such is no doubt a bit quicker A-B but it's so damn easy to drive on the limit and all feels well a little boring, no real excitement no matter how quick you go. Yes without a doubt the better car for a run to the shops or a long journey, but if I'm going on a weekend hooning give me the Type-R please, I might be a tad slower than I would be in the Scirroco but I'll have a much bigger grin on my face.

Shame this Scirroco ain't mine, otherwise I'd mapp it and see how well it went with 250+ horses. :D

Gibbo, what car do you have? Thought you had the jag for work and Porsche for fun? Where did the Type R and the squashed Golf come from?

Yes that's right.

But Porsche recovery after a tyre blew out marked my front bumper, not really noticeable but I complained. Result is Porsche body shop won't fill and respray and will only repair if a new front bumper is ordered and full front-end respray as they won't cut corners, the cost is just under 5k

I am not paying so not complaining, but they offered me a Polo for a courtesy car so I complained again and got given a VW Scirroco 2.0 Tsi DSG the new 210ps model with sports suspension with comfort, normal and sport setting along with 19" wheels shod in 235 width rubber all round which goes a bit to explaining it's outright grip.

So no point in driving the Jaaaag when I got a new Scirroco to thrash ;)

^ Why i could not take my ITR around Donington with rest of OCUK guys :/
Got caliper kits from japan last Wednesday thanks to Tegiwa guys and new red stuff pads. It was getting dark around 20.20 so with limited time it took me 3 days (around 6 hours) to get them sorted :)
