Type R and VTEC owners

looking at it subjectively, EP3 aside.

the question was DC5 or S2000

now, a rough estimate on the DC5 at being around 20k new

and the S2000 at 30k new.

surely the S2000 is the more desirable car being a more premium car to start with?

More desirable because of RWD & convertible-ness and being totally bespoke in design compared to a Integra which is similar to the Civic.

Indeed, back to the original question.

As I've stated above, the price of the insurance is pushing the S2000 above my limits, as annoying as that is. I have had a look at a very tidy AP1 that I pretty much fell in love with, but it's pretty much topping out my budget and then throw on another £1700+ for insurance it's ruling itself out.

Throw that against a DC5, which in my opinion is nicer than an EP3, I'm not topping the budget to buy one and the insurance is less than half that of the S2000; with the added seats / boot room, it certainly looks the more favourable of the two realistically.

Think I'll have to go look at one this coming weekend and have a nose around...

Accord type R, seats 5, torquey engine, fast, handles great.

The amount of ep3's I made go backwards was funny. Maybe because the drivers didn't know how to drive, or they were sheds.

Maybe that's what led to my cars death. :(

that 7.3s 0-60 must have been mind blowing.

Vita, someone looking at DC5s and S2000 is very unlikely to be looking at rover accords

bJN, have you just done generic quotes on S2000s or checked specialists etc?

I've gone through several different ones from the usual big companies to smaller independent insurers and they've all been in the same range of money.

A couple of the specialists were honest in saying that without any other "performance" cars in my own car history, it would be unlikely to get any cheaper. How true or not that is I don't know, but it would make sense...

It wasn't from stand still, rolling 2nd gear around 20mph. The accords are quick, pity they're under-rated.

Mine accelerated rather quickly, it never felt like 7.3 to 60.

And why might that be pet?

If I own a P1 is my opinion still irrelevant.

YH DIDNT TINK SO M8

No still irreverent due to lols about MUGEN 4 EVA!!!!1111 Saw a DC5 today, was the blue one and it had black wheels and a carbon bonnet, looked ****e*. Can anyone explain why the FD2 wasn't popular in Japan or is that just made up internet talk?

My H22 Prelude embarrassed a couple of EP3's and that has less power than the Accord Type-R

I don't think the Accord Type-R's shared very much with Rover, that was mostly the Civic of the same era

I miss my EP3. How mint an ep3 should I expect for 5k in todays market? Age, milage to be looking at etc?

Could get one of these, save a few K from having something newer and enjoy vtec y0 again, WITHOUT lowering it lol

Rover Accords?

The Accord Type R was hardly slow, not sure how he made a CTR go 'backwards' in it given they are broadly similar but...

It looks just like a rover. You don't even need to know it shared the parts etc to see that. Plus, its performance figures are similar to that of a fiesta ST which many consider to be a 'warm' hatch.

Its a second slower to 60 than an EP3

The accord was basically a rover 600

Honda and Rover share a load of parts. The mk2 rover 200 has the same rear suspension as a DC2

There you go ^

I wasn't aware of (didn't care about) the specifics buy knew it was the case.

I wonder if a rover 200 is more JDM than an EP3 then? :p

£350 to sort

still not in the region of DC5 money. :)

my point is this;

I am not denying that the DC5 is good. I am not denying that it is better than an EP3.

but realistically, in the real world... is it double the price better?

That's good you can sort it out but it goes back to my original point. If you want a DC5... you want a DC5, you know the cost of it, you know what it does and dosen't have over an EP3.

Same with a DC2, I'd never recommend anyone to get one as the person has to want the damn thing in the first place, there's much better cars to own that come with less hassle of ownership, but if you want a DC2 nothing else will do.
