Type R and VTEC owners

Have the leads been checked?

I'm assuming so, he's changed the plugs as they weren't much cop and he said he's been through everything he can think of and it all checks out and he said its either the dizzy or the cam has skipped a tooth but he can't see a reason for that to have happened? He even thought there may have been an immobiliser left on which i don't know about ?

I think you could get the cam cover off on that engine under an hour, it would allow you to have a look at the cam gears to see if it's jumped a tooth or not.

It's straight forward to do it yourself though the tensioner can be tricky. As for a specialist round your area if you want a garage to do it, maybe a jaunt up the M6 to TDI North in Warrington? If you go, say hello to Paul for me.

I would be tempted to do it myself but bad experience when I swapped cam on the MX5, musn't have tensioned it correctly as the belt slipped. Good thing it's a none interference engine!

Here's my trusty EP3:

Standard apart from red eBay mats and slightly darker refurbed wheels (not shown in pic). The grooved discs are gone- they were awful.

Those grooved front discs?

Yes.

They were about £100, and the grooves glazed up like a behatch, resulting in LOTS of braking whine/vibration in the car. Horrible things, and so glad I got shot of them. They had lots of life left in them too, but I just couldn't put up with all the dash-rattling they caused.

I'll read the thread later but I have a 2004 EP3, standard apart from a Magnex cat back (unsilenced B-Pipe) and a vtec light :D Which I need to remove!!!

Pretty much a minter, only had it since October. I want to do a few bits to it (copy and paste):

- Lowering springs 30-35mm (Eibach) and other bits and FRSU, bush check/shock check/other bits etc before doing.
- Wheels refurbed in a bright silver (or some Rota Grid Drifts!)
- Uprated discs and pads and fluid
- Hondata Airbox mod or decent induction kit
- 200 cell sports cat perhaps?
- Lightly tinted windows
- HID headlights
- Wind Deflectors
- ICE - components, amp, sub, wiring, soundproofing and head unit
- Uprate engine/gearbox mounts

This thread may prove beneficial :)

This is my car. I will await more hate for the plates the last owner put on which I like anyway! :) :

I need to get the valve clearances and timing chain checked soon, it's on nearly 66k but 7 years old now and no history of them being done, oil is usually done every 6k as well with Titan Pro S 5w/40 so I need to buy some of that to keep it up.

Does oil need to be dropped or anything when doing valve clearances? I'm no mechanic... any good recommendations of where to take it near to Stoke-on-Trent? Don't mind going say 50 mile radius aslong as I can get a courtesy car for a day or two, to get to work etc.

Never owned one, but have a massive soft spot for the DC5. Not sure why the Civics never tickled me, was a close choice between that and my Clio.

Clio just seemed the obvious choice.

Hi I'm Gareth, and I'm a total S2000 fanboy.

I bought my S2000 in November 2007. An MY00 AP1, with 58k on the clock from Honda. The car put out 243BHP 2 days later at Powerstation on an OCUK RR day.

I'm sure I've posted a few threads on this, but my car had....

Cusco Front Upper Strut Bar
Cusco Front Lower Brace Bar
Cusco Rear Lower Brace Bar
Cusco Front (32mm) ARB
Cusco Rear (30mm) ARB
Powerflex Polybushes all round
Mugen Caster Bushes
Tein S Tech Springs
Bridgestone Potenza RE050AZ's
WIM Alignment
and... a K&N replacement cone filter for soundtrack purposes.

Handling was nothing short of amazing, and I loved every second of it. A quick video of me blasting round Bedford chasing a 911, gets interesting from 5mins onwards...

http://youtu.be/Xsbr9SB5hn0

There is a second video linked from it that isn't quite so fun (Part 2) bar the slide at the start of it !

I made the most of my ownership, and managed to do a fair few track days, my absolute favourite being Cadwell Park.

Sadly real life and a requirement to actually buy a house came calling so she was sold in October 2010. I hope once I've got a house (at least Sept 2013) that I can grab either another S2000 or an NSX.... and then go blasting through tunnels screaming VTAAAAAAAK......

Honda's are the family's favourite cars, and I'm no different!

Started with a DC ITR when I was a young 20 something as I live in the mountains in North Wales, it's one of the only cars that I would be able to insure that could be driven properly on the roads.

Sold it after a couple of years, it had some gentle mods but nothing out of the ordinary.

Then a couple of years ago after selling the modded Octavia vRS I purchased my fathers Accord Exec, a lovely car with all the gear, but the 2.0 engine wasn't best matched with the car, making it a pain to drive round in stop start traffic.

And now :

Had her a month now, and it's too early and too wintery for any proper feedback, even though it's probably quicker than the modded vRS, it still feels slower, probably due to the turbo delivery. I would also say it doesn't feel as fast as the ITR either, but again that might be down to memory and the rawness of the Teg.

Ahh good to see there are a lot of Honda boys on the forum

I absolutely love them

Had an ek civic for 2 years and for just under a year I've been running a white CRX VT which I love, best handling Honda I've been in cause they weigh nothing

Few pics from the summer

Currently awaiting new arches and a full respray

Harness is now a black OMP 3 inch job

nom Bride Seats.

Got my eyes firmly set on an EP3 by the end of Feb
driven two civics recently and became addicted.
first was a facelift in silver from a dealer which was mainly stock but had a massive OTT exhaust that sounded atrocious.
the second was a very nice 02 jdm model from a specialist with a load of spoon stuff on it. that was berserk.

my list of wants are as follows:
2004/2005 EP3 [facelift of course]
Cosmic Grey
Unmolested
<60k if possible
Premier Edition if Possible

I am assuming that these requirements will demand a slightly higher price than a more standard example
I like the seats in the Premier Edition more and they seem to hold value a little better.

will probably leave it as it is for a while as I recover from the inevitable initial outlay of buying a new car.

looking at Gruppe M as a possible update down the line but have read that the Tegiwa offers identical performance for half of the cost, is there any truth in that?

other than that, I plan on buying a set of AD08s for it. maybe seeing if I can source some OEM wheels for it and have winter/summer wheels.

A couple of old schoolers
