Type R and VTEC owners

Yeh they altered the clutch design on the 8th gen, so they won't fail prematurely like they did on the ctdi's, that isn't to say some won't as I have read stories of some that have.

But the engines can take more power, maybe the other components can't, but usually people fit uprated clutches to go with the increase in power, but theres other issues related to do that.

Perhaps speak to some tuning companies, Premier Tuning and Celtic tuning do some well known remap for the Accords.

DTEC are 9th gen.

8th gen were updated in the 2010 facelift which had all the updates including the 'upgraded' clutch. Engine still ctdi.

I think your referring to the Civic? I'm talking about the Accord. :p the 8th gen Accord, the 2008+ model all have iDTEC, and by upgraded clutch I was referring to aftermarket upgrades that people do when they remap, putting in clutch kit which can handle the extra power without going pop prematurely.

Fahad on the accord owners club knows a lot about remapping accords

Yeh he runs Premier Tuning, their facebook page has some examples and info of remaps on the Accord.

Yeah I've seen his name pop up a lot. Will get the car first and see how the power is. The Audi is lovely for overtaking but the box makes it difficult at times.

Has there been one of these for a while?

For a clean Fn2, it might be a bit hard to find a 57 Reg Fn2 for around £6000 but it's easily possible. I sold a 07 Reg Fn2 for £7000 a month ago to a fellow forum member on here but that car was immaculate with only 54k and 1 owner from brand new. The clean ones are still expensive.

I'm short aswell but the Fn2 seats have height adjustment aswell and you quickly get used to it and yeah I just noticed the price in the description, rather get a Fn2 for that price!:o

Check your inbox :)

Not sure if I posted the 58 reg on here fairly mint 67k 1 owner etc, it sold on ebay for 5900 today. Just goes to show it is worth holding out and not paying over the top. He offered it to me for £6100 the other day. Wish I could have got to Kent to view, but I'd hate to drive all that way to view and not buy personally... there will be more :)

Seen one in Crewe so only up the road, 57 reg, near enough mint inside and out bar one trolley dent on drivers door, not that big though.. does have a tegiwa cat back and eibach springs though and 4 owners but he says 5500 quid. 75k on the clock.

Problem is I've just driven a 320BHP Astra VXR... power is indeed addictive to be fair lol.

£5500 is a very good price for that considering the mileage and I'm not a big fan of Astra's, sure they can be tuned to stupid powers but it gets very boring very quickly plus they are no where as reliable as an FN2.

It's a Vauxhall? If you want a reliable car - go for the Honda :)

Have you been to see the fn2 or any of the others you've talked through? I only ask as I went to see no less than about ten absolute dogs that sounded good on paper before buying mine. There will definitely be good, cheapish ones out there but the majority will have a glaring issue or two if you're remotely picky (which you should be as they aren't exactly thin on the ground)

So the S2000 failed it's mot yesterday, but only on the rear fog light, which had completely rotted away. Fitted it last night after making a bracket from old shelving L brackets:p Doesn't look pretty but it's more solid than the OEM bracket and much cheaper.

Have also managed to use up the last of my 4L Castrol TD 5w40 purely on top-ups, which has lasted just under 5000 miles. Thoughts Simon? Consumption seems on the high side?

4litres consumption in 5000 miles ?

Sounds like engine is burning, unfortunately when previous owners run these low on oil they can cause FRM scratches / ring wear.

Do you see it burning ?

I've just changed mine and I think I used about 2.5 litres over the 9k drain. Never really keep track.

Try Magnatec 10W-40 if its hurting your pocket.

I've S2000 brackets at the back are flimsy and will rot away.

My car hasn't use any oil at all in the 3000 miles or so I've done in it. It's also still that clean shade of light brown.

yeah, I mean it's driven hard, often revved right out to the limiter, but aren't they all?

I often hear "burns 1 litre in 1000 miles" thrown about on various Honda forums, which I'm just under. Do you recommend I take it to a specialist? To be honest my EK9 used a similar amount.

Post 2004 use less. Different engine features and ring pack design apparently.

I 3D printed new brackets for fog light, nice mecchano skills though
