Type R and VTEC owners

I'm looking forward to it as well. I want a fast Honda but cannot afford an NSX and don't really want to SC or Turbocharge the existing models available.
I shan't be getting from new as unfortunately (?) houses are more important but look forward to picking one up 3 years down the line.

The evo isn't a honda though.

The point being made by Honda is that this type r will be the best of the best of type Rs.

I'm looking forward to it.

That's just marketing garbage by Honda, nothing they make will come close to the NSX, not even the new one.

Is it not pretty much impossible to get a high-revving screaming N/A engine through emissions regs now though?

There are still high revving N/A engines out there, Lexus are releasing one with the RC-F or whatever its called. Just means it will probably be a high tax band, but I'm sure if Honda wanted they could have developed something that would meet the targets, but the cost of R&D is probably too much, much easier to bolt on a turbo.

Is anyone able to tell me if my Honda has a cambelt or chain? I have a Honda Civic 2.0 petrol V-TECH 54 plate Type S. Thanks in advance.

It's chain driven, its from the K20 family.

I haven't, but, I've spent a significant amount of time in the non Type R and I am good friends with the (now ex) owner. I've also been out in the facelift Type R a few times. There's a lot you can tell about a car from the passenger seat IMO but of course nothing comes close to the real thing.

I agree, knowing how to handle car goes a long way to feeling what the cars doing even from the passenger seat.

Intrigued to now how many people in this thread have driven an NSX.

Well if they had they haven't driven a new CIVIC type R yet to form an opinion any more than you absorbing the Honda marketing BS.

The NSX has 300bhp, little over 1200kg and a low Cd with RWD. I'm frankly amazed Honda are declaring as fastest Type R, unless it's something irrelevant like top speed.

Look at the back axle of an NSX for automotive porn, the back of the Civic is like a Rover 25 for gods sake.

Don't go comparing Hondas to Rovers in this thread.

I can't believe you are all going on about the new CTR one upping the NSX when the real focus should be on the mention of the new CT being better than the ATR which anyone who knows anything is the ULTIMATE TYPE R

Accord Type R. The Power of Dreams

People moaning that the marketing vid puts the ctr above the nsx as best type r is what I meant.

I'm well up for driving one. Couldn't give a toss what people think about it. I'm interested to see what Honda do with a new platform.

Thanks! im pretty sure its a K20a3. Does this mean I dont need to get the chain changed? Car has done 115k miles so far and not a single issue since I bought it around 2 years ago

Nope no need, they aren't a service item like timing belts. You only need to change them if they become faulty, which they do eventually at some point, they usually wear and stretch and become noisy.
