Type R and VTEC owners

I always wonder this, what are the requirements of test driving a car such as the Civic Type R? e.g. Age, How long have you held your license, Criminal record?

Are there any costs e.g. insurance?

A decent sales person will recognise a tyre kicker from a real potential buyer. If you're a real buyer you'll get a test drive, if you're not you might get lucky but you probably won't.

From a technical point of view, generally speaking the garages will have all the necessary insurance policies in place for people to test drive cars, and it's likely that they'll want to take a copy of your driving license for their records.

Before I bought my M135i BMW gave me an M235i for 4 days. They needed a copy of my driving license and I had to sign their documentation confirming what the condition of the car was when I borrowed it, and return it with the same amount of fuel in.

They called me about a corrosion warranty issue on my FN2, which probably helps a bit.

I've never had any issue driving any car on request just by phoning or walking in and being polite - the flip side of that is I've never asked to drive something that I'm clearly not s potential customer of (though in reality there is next to no chance I'll be looking to buy this one)

I'm test driving one on Monday aswell. I have a mate who works at my local dealership and he knows about my Fn2's so rang me up asking me if I wanted to test drive one so I said yes. I know it wont be as quick as my car but still, want to see what the fuss is about as everyone seems to be very impressed with it. Outlandish styling or not, you have to give credit to Honda.

Tuners are going to have a ball with it for sure. Watch now as the slated FN2 suddenly becomes more popular now they're getting into chump change pricing.

Both Fn2's and Ep3's seem to be holding their value, maybe even appreciating. Lets see what the next 12 months bring? Maybe the new ex demo type r around the £20k mark?

A non-trashed EP2 averages at around £3500... But as soon as they pop up, usually next or the the day after they're gone.

I don't mind the front of the FK2 just wish they had stuck with the rear from the concept design. Oh well who knows it may grow on you like the FN2 did for some people. Or you might change your mind after driving one as some people seem to be reporting.

Had a nice day today, went to a car meet in Nottingham, 9 s2000's in total, with some other rather tasty cars, must have been a good 50+ cars.

And then popped into my local honda on the off chance they had the new civic type R, had a look around it and they asked if i wanted a test drive, took it out and it felt nice, but a little too refined for my liking, it was very fast, but did not really feel it if that made sense, felt more like driving a fast bmw or merc then a type R, looked a lot nicer in person than in pictures.

Also i got a lot of wheel spin and traction loss when thrashing it in 1st and 2nd, with torque steer, obviously not really used to it with coming from a rwd s2000.

Its the arches that ruin it for me. Just dont work.

Thoughts yours was running a JRSC and producing about 300/224?

That can only be a good thing though, as long as it doesn't leave you feeling detached from the driving.

420HP at the front wheels?!?! Do you just feather the throttle everywhere? :p

Haha, I've got two maps on the car, One done by TTS which is around 470 Bhp at engine and 420 Bhp at wheels. This is the more agressive map, perfect for track and an everyday map which is done by TDi North, 426.5 Bhp at engine and around 382 Bhp at the wheels. It only takes a minute to switch between the maps.

On the JRSC Type R, it's only the single map. 311 Bhp @ wheels :)

Greedy guts :p

JRSC one is being split and put back to standard :D Just going to keep the more powerful one :)

Why did you invest money in 2 FN2's, wouldn't it be more fun to get a different car?

I'm a big fan of Civic's and I know I'm not losing a penny on these cars, probably will make more end of the day but it's just a temporary fun car as I've been wanting a Nissan GTR for a while now but that's been pushed back for a couple of months now as I've decided to buy my own house first, GTR will come after that :)

Any pictures of those Civic's? I'm a big fanboy of the EP3, that's why I spent 6-7 months searching for a EP2, but they sell out in 1-2 days. I'm not even kidding, I was prepared to pay £3500 for a 10-11 year old civic...
But this car seems to be also be liked by chavs due to low insurance premium, most were abused and or crashed. It was really hard to find a good example. :(

You can pick up some clean EP3's for around 3.5-4.5k now, I would know as I've sold a few :p and here's some pics:
