Type R and VTEC owners

The guy who is helping me do it has suggested red like on a prem ed, but i was thinking maybe black. Probably because i am dull.
Premier editions calipers aren't red; they just have Type R embossed onto them. The colour is still the silver/grey finish.

I like red calipers behind wheels if the caliper is something decent, like Brembo or Wilwood etc, but for an OEM caliper setup, keep to OEM colour IMO.

Lies!

My calipers are red, well the carrier is. Need to do the new calipers all around to match the seats :D

In which case they've been painted.

This is how they look out of the factory.

So no, not lies at all.

IMO brakes and suspension should be sorted before any power upgrades. :) That's just me though.

I also think the whole high performance fluid thing is a bit of a con, I've got 5 year old fluid in mine and I didn't get fade once around the 'ring or Spa with everything OEM bar the pads (2500's). I also brake late and hard.

I'll be getting the fluid changed soon though as it's gone from looking clean to a little gunky in recent weeks.

You probably don't. They are pretty good calipers for the price (i.e. very cheap compared to Brembo/AP etc.) and they are nice and light, but they aren't the most rigidly constructed items (esp. the cheaper ones) and many of them don't have dust seals which is a must on a regularly used road car IMO. Loads of kit cars use them, mianly due to cost and weight, but they don't tend to get the miles a tin top does.
Every day is a .......

Thanks, I didn't know this. Then again, I haven't researched them properly.

Bridgestone's always work best on Type R's. RE050A are a good bet, or RE070A if you can find them. Yokohama Advan AD08 are very good also. I'm currently using RE002 and have no complains so far:

Hmm - any estimates for a front end respray? (bonnet + front skirt at a guess)

Depends on the garage and I daresay the quality of the work. Where in the country are you?

EDIT just seen Hastings. Try King Coachcraft in Sheerness. Quality of the work on my DC2 was awesome and fantastic prices. The guy that runs it loves his Jap cars too. If you ring him tell him I said hi and thanks once again.

Rear tie bars are for show only. As are braces that go under the engine. Makes me laugh people who try and justify those, I wonder if they've ever seen a sub-frame or tried to lift one.

Help :( suddenly after what seems like forever of trouble free motoring my ctr has started cutting out when approaching junctions or a general stop. Sometimes it hangs on and judders the recovers but mostly will just cut out . Any ideas/common faults , I was thinking idle control valve, I won't be able to get to a garage for a week and ATM car is in high demand for hospital visits. Any one experienced this ?
Does it struggle to idle at all or is it only when coming up to a junction?

Welcome me to this thread :)
