That old chestnut. You realise more US Cops were killed in America than Soldiers in Afghanistan during the 20 years the US was in Afghanistan? There's zero chance you'd be a Cop in the US, yet you want to tell them not to draw their guns when they're operating in some of the most dangerous cities in the world.
The biggest killer of US police is normally traffic accidents and heart attacks, often whilst they're heading into or home from work or whilst performing things like "pitt" manoeuvres when they get it wrong and don't kill passengers in the other vehicle (or random drivers in other cars that hit the overturned target car) , over the last few years it's been covid (odd how they'll shoot someone and claim they feared for their lives, but were actively refusing to take covid precautions).
IIRC policing isn't even the most dangerous job in terms of risk of being killed by criminals in the US, despite the cops being around them all the time (IIRC store clerks and taxi drivers have a higher death rate per capita).
