Tyre Nichols murder

I will try and find one, but basically the police asked him to lay down at least five times. He didn't, he was half laid down asking questions. They then asked again saying if he didn't he would get tasered, at which point he jumped up and started running (massive mistake).

Now, you could say none of that (leading up to the taser point) was resisting. My take on it, is that America loves guns. They adore them, second amendment this, second amendment that. Fine, but the consequence is that you don't know who's carrying and who isn't. The police are on edge as anyone could have a gun. This means that whilst you might not be resisting, you need to following instructions to the letter, so when they say lay down, you bloody well lay down. Hell, this isn't even up for debate.....just look at all the hundreds of videos over the past 40+ years.

What happened next, the beating was totally out of order and I would hope they all end up in jail. There is no excuse for what the police did, and I am not trying to defend them in anyway shape or form. What I'm saying, is that the police are so bad, you have to follow instructions if you don't want to end up dead.

What we hope/want American society to be like isn't the reality. Until the public have confidence in the police (which will never happen because they love guns) this will happen time and time again.
In the first interaction, seen clearly on video, one officer holding an arm behind his back and other pinning his other wrist to the floor. He would never of been able to follow the orders given he cant lay flat with the limbs being controlled elsewhere.

So victim blaming. The outcome is from a group of officers that felt like they could do as they pleased and could beat a man to death because they felt he either didn't respect them or just because he ****** them off.

Until there is a seismic change in how they police this will continue to happen.

If I walk out in front of a car on a motorway, it hits me and kills me, do I not share part of the blame?

Like I said, one single link being broken can change the outcome.

In the first interaction, one officer is forcing an arm round his back and screaming at him to lay flat, whilst another officer is pressuring his other wrist in a way that would never allow the guy to move, let alone lay flat. Thats seen clearly on video, one officer holding an arm behind his back and other pinning his other wrist to the floor.

I'll have another look mate, the ones I saw weren't very good quality but yeah, if you are preventing someone from being able to follow your instructions then that changes everything.

The video I saw from the white officers perspective who was the one screaming and holding the arm behind the back. Whilst another office was sat in front of him double arming Tyre's arm to the ground.
Genuinely thats first thing I noticed, cant follow orders when 3 officers are trying to control you in differing manners.

Didnt reply to you just to be snitty for ref, agreed with the rest of your post, disgusting behaviour and all of them deserve inside of a cell with some gangbangers.

Oh no, it's cool mate, my skin went cold towards the end when they seeemed to be laughing and joking about it. Disgusting. Absolutely vile creatures.

I think if I was in that situation, I'd just lay on the deck, go floppy, keep my mouth shut....and pray for the best!

Think thats the other side of it with the amount of violence inflicted on him, can anyone blame him not following commands? Seeing them literally rain down punches over the top of him like in a MMA fight was disgusting and must have concussed him against the concrete.
The joking, cigarettes, comments of hoping to get stomped, all of it is just absolutely vile and is not the way of the police.

disagree.
I feel the point being made that although the officers are black, there is clear police policy or culture in play that they are additional aggressive or violent with certain individuals backgrounds. I've never seen 3 police pull someone over with guns drawn for a driving infraction before. Only if the stop has gone badly and escalated.
Yes, though as I said in my previous post, in the US if you're pulled over by a cop and run off there is a high chance he might shoot at you i.e. they go over the top at the slightest thing.

They still think they are in the wild west. The cowboy hero figure is still big in the US. Wanted: Dead or Alive.

I doubt that culture will change.

Imagine the level of fear to know that running can and does lead to people being shot and thinking I’ll take my chances.

Just watched it. Jesus that poor sod. He was in a bit of a lose lose by the looks of it. Running mightn’t have helped things but them boys looked like they were gonna give him a kicking either way. They all seemed pretty hyped from the get go and just descended into a baying pack of animals out for blood. Seeing a cop take aim and kicked him in the head while he was heavily restrained is beyond shocking. They’d lost all control of themselves at that point.

It makes the death murder of GF look incredibly tame in comparison

The way they approached him at the start was frightening, it looked like they were really after him, regardless of whatever he had allegedly done.

People say “he shouldn’t have ran” or whatever, but at the start - the way the police try to apprehend him is just frightening and violent, I think running away was a natural reaction to a legitimate threat.

It’s so strange to see a country with so much money and resources, which simultaneously lectures the rest of the world on what to do - so drastically lose control of its ****.

I don't know the full back story and I certainly don't want to watch the video but from the little I know this is terrible and those police officers need to go away for ever. The savagery of human beings never ceases to disappoint. I can't comprehend doing such a thing.

Yeah but I wouldn't expect them to swerve across lanes to make sure they hit me and smash the accelerator at the same time.

All these "resisting arrest" comments are showing people's prejudices.

He ran for his life, seemingly with good reason.

Yeah, that is the kind of policing I'd expect to see in Russia or similar authoritarian countries, not a country that claims to be a democratic republic and individual freedom is something they like to boast is the best in the world.
