UEFA Champions League 6/7 December *** Spoilers ***

Rooney is a great player one of the best, but its strange because I really think he needs equally good players around him to get the best out of him. IF he doesn't have those players around him he tries to do everything himself and ends up losing his rag because despite how good he is he cannot do it all.

Put Rooney in Citeh/Madrid/Barca and he would be hitting 30+ every season and playing up to his best because he wouldn't feel the need to do it all! He's let himself down with his own passion at times!

He's far too inconsistent to ever be a 30+ every season striker. How many games has it been since he's scored now? He has periods every year where he not only loses form, but he plays genuinely poorly. I just can't see how the wool has been pulled over so many people's eyes (well he's English so it's normal to be a bit more excited about him I suppose). I don't think he's delivered on his potential that he showed at 17/18.

Hmmm, rumours about Zagreb-Lyon game being a fix according to daily mail (lol)

What do people think?

Wouldnt surprise me.

2 goals ruled out for the dutch
2 yellow cards in 20 minutes
Keeper seems to stop trying
Pictures of winking/thumbs up at other teams players?

Who knows.....

ANyone saying Klose isn't good, simply doesn't know football, at all in any way, the guy is a god. He's about 74 and still scoring 1 in 2 iirc, still playing at a much worse club now but he's still scoring and his interplay is massively under rated, excellent finishing, excellent movement, excellent thinking, excellent player, epic. Just because he plays less and has moved to a less big team doesn't change how good he is, and he's really, god damned brilliant.

Raúl anyone?

According to Wiki, Klose has scored 174 goals in 439 games at club level. That's not even close to 1 in 2. In fact if wiki is correct, he's only ever managed a goal every other game in 3 seasons in his entire career (13 seasons) and that includes this current season so that may change.

Beat me to it, the bloke has only once managed more than 20 league goals!

Forlan isn't as good as Rooney, he was crazy good in 08/09 + 09/10 (I think the same season Rooney had a great season too) but he's rapidly declined since then

disapointed in last nights game, i was disapointed when i saw the lineup. Play for the win all the time i reckon so why put one person upfront whos not scored since September inopen play and expect to win? Prefered it when united used to have Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney upfront a lot more chance of scoring. game livended up a bit when Macheda and wellbeck came on.

Raúl anyone?

Was going to include him, he's done great but more of a tap in artist at one of the strongest clubs in Europe while he was there, he's not crap but I never "loved" his game outside of putting it in the net.

For me a striker who doesn't score needs a BRILLIANT all around game, or a good scorer + still a good all around game, a epic scorer with little to nothing else in his game, useful, but not really what makes it for a top top team.

Unfortunately, his stats are both wrong, and, wrong.

This season he's got 2 goals in 4 starts in Europa, 6 goals AND 2 assists in 12 starts for Lazio, 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 starts in Friendlies for Germany, and in 2 Euro qualifiers he got 2 goals, 2 assists.

last year he played in 12 internationals, and got 10 goals. He also MOSTLY due to being dropped as first team didn't play an awful lot despite a lot of sub appearances last year, while his international form was as good as ever.

He is the ONLY PLAYER EVER, to score 4 or more goals in 3 different world cups. He got 4 goals in 5 games at the last world cup.

Lets also not ignore the fact that until the past few years the German league was born on defence, ultra defence and more defence.

But still, several years ago he only got 10 goals in the league, but only started 23 games, also got 6 assists, that is still almost a goal every other game, and an assist every 4. But he started 57 games that year and got 33 goals.

What about, in the year he scored 33, he took 127 shots, Rooney in his 40 goal year, took 257 shots.

He's also only played for Bayern for a few years in his career.

Sorry, anyone even pretending Klose hasn't had an awesome career and been one of the best players in the world cup for a decade, doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

DM, you say the stats from wiki are wrong and then wrote an essay without disproving the stats.

Has Klose only scored 174 goals in 439 games at club level and has he only scored a goal every other game in 3 of his 13 seasons (which includes this season)?

I do like Klose, he's a great target man but I just don't think he's as good as Rooney. Rooney has often dragged a team by himself, Klose in a Germany shirt has one of the best midfields in the world behind him whose entire job is setting him up.

Or commas it would seem. My point? You're criticising the best manager in the world but can't construct a legible sentence. Makes you look like a silly Billy.

I see. so lacking capital letters makes me look silly, but insisting that fergie is the current best manager? does that not make you feel even a little foolish that you went there unnecessarily?

He's posting from his phone while he hides in bins stalking supermarket check out girls :)

No more insults today tom84? Perhaps if you spent more time trying to understand the game instead of thinking about me, then maybe you'd have a clue.

This result while not a foregone conclusion was quite predictable. anyone saying otherwise was clearly out of touch with our current state.
