UEFA Champions League/Europa League 8/9/10 March *** Spoilers ***

That's a good point tbh, last season I think it was at this stage that Inter knocked Chelsea out and they looked a very good side then, they're a shadow of that this year and may not even make it past Bayern who themselves are only a worry if Robben is fit (which is next to never)

At the moment I'd say it's gonna be between Barca, Chelsea or maybe an outside bet on Real who while the Jose factor doesn't seem to be as big as it was at Inter as La Liga is only a two team league it's hard to really comment on Real Madrid against a top team as they've only played one so far this season.

Madrid are weird to watch, they have enough individual quality to win games but you only see flashes of team brilliance occasionally and they never feel like a front to back unit. Where Barca will be 3-0 up by half time, Real often struggle to get that first goal, but once they do the opposition usually open up enough for them to get more in.

Despite what some people say, I think the rest of La Liga is pretty cack these days (Valencia going out to a team that are mid-table in the Bundesliga tonight) and Madrid rarely get a thorough defensive examination (lol, Barca). When you watch a Mourihno team you expect to see discipline, being rock solid at the back, tactically astute, but Real currently possess none of these things.

THAT SAID, it took him a while to whip Inter into shape, so I suppose Madrid's success under him will depend on whether he's allowed to stay there long enough to shape things his way.

Gallas has been brilliant for Spurs this season. So much so that not a single Spurs fan even remembers that he played for Arsenal.

Getting him in was a great bit of business.

Having said that, great to see King on the bench. :)

Couldn't agree more! I was extremely sceptical when 'arry brought Gallas in, given his past, but he has truly been a rock for us this season. Him and Dawson could form an immense partnership if only Daws could sort out his consistency: sometimes he looks like Bobby Moore, other times more like Bobby Ball! Now if only we could do a Bionic Man job on Ledley... :(

Yup, while I don't give Harry much credit for Spurs getting back to where they were before, one thing he does right is not look a gift horse in the mouth, Gallas, free, for WAY less than a usual several time prem champion, or VDV, other clubs stupidly turned the move down, at 8mil it would be daft for anyone to turn him down, even if you play him for a season and sell him on for double that its an easy choice.

Arsenal fans on Gallas leaving, there was the "but he isn't bestest friends with the entire squad" fans, the "but, but, he sat down, that one time, after a game, attitude problem, clearly" fans, the "he's not really that good" fans and various other excuse makers.

I think I remember saying he'd move to another near top club, he's been a fantastic servant, he's a solid player, he's a leader, he has a winning mentality, he'll give his every last ounce of effort, he has no attitude problem, he's brilliant and he'll improve whoever he goes to.

After he eventually signed for Spurs I wished I was wrong but knew I wouldn't be, he was one of our very best players for 3 years, put in maybe 3 bad performances in his entire time with us. We replaced him with Kos though, 80k a week Gallas or spend maybe 50k a week on Kos, aswell as 8-9mil transfer, great bit of business that, one of the best CB's in the game today to a guy who makes a massive game changing error almost every appearance, wooo.

Gerrard hasn't travelled with our squad to Braga and it looks like he may need surgery on his groin which could put him out for the rest of the season.

Not sure whether I want it to be true or not. On one hand you don't want to be without him for a long period but on the other hand, this groin injury seems to have been flaring up a couple of times per season for as long as I can remember.

To be honest lets just try and get this sorted out once and for all and give him whatever treatment he needs . I don't mind him missing the rest of the season if he has to because the rest of the season is all about the getting the foundations in place to go and have a good crack at getting champions league football next year .

2 months ago I was saying myself that this season's a write off but now there's a realistic chance of winning the Europa League and pinching 5th place, which might be needed just to qualify for the Europa League again next season.

I know what your saying but i would rather see us out of the europa league next year and with a decent signing or two go after the champions league places . I think a year of just focusing on the premier league and domestic cups could do the club the whole world of good .

6 points off Spurs who have a game in hand, form over the last 8 games is good but you've only gained 5 points on them over 8 games, you're hoping to gain 9 more on them with only 10 games left(for Spurs), its a very big ask though looking at the run in I think LIverpool/Spurs are fairly even, both have Arsenal and City. Chelsea, I have no idea how they've done it frankly, have actually been in great form and getting results despite playing like a bunch of retards.

Chelsea are already 9 points ahead, with a game in hand and over the last 8 games you've gained a single point on them, frankly Chelsea can't play much worse and thats really saying how pathetic the league is, they aren't passing well, shooting, strikers all horribly out of form, but still won 5 of 8 like LIverpool, Arsenal, Utd have.

Hmm, won't 6th most likely be enough anyway, 5th is certain, 7th has been taken by Brum, and 6th could go to someone who wins the FA cup then, with Utd, Arsenal, City considering who else is in I can't see beyond one of those three winning it.

6th should be pretty easy to maintain, Bolton/Sunderland form is a joke at the moment.

Kind of makes you wonder if Gallas, who plays through injuries and missed less games a season than really any other CB we've had in ages, would have made the mistake Koscielny made in the CC final, or if he'd have given away a penalty like Kos or simply fallen on his ass last night like Djourou did before the 3rd goal was it.

Great goal line clearance, the guy is a rock, a winner and the type of personality you need on the pitch, a real leader. If you recall even after Cesc was the captain loads of players said it was still Gallas who led the team, who people are now questioning if they are leaderless.

It may be my mind playing tricks on me in my old age but I could almost swear I watched Gallas go into a right strop during a game against Birmingham and sit down on the pitch to sulk. Maybe you can say that he's just showing how much he cares about the game but it looked more like the footballing equivalent of "no mas" and whatever else you think about Roberto Duran that tarnished his image as the sulk did for Gallas.

Gomes did his best to gift them a couple of times tonight, never fully trust him.

I wasn't sure if that was normal and he usually plays like that or not because as I've said I haven't watched Spurs all that much this season.

He's reminds me of a clown in a circus. Flapping everywhere, poor decision making and this isn't the first time we've seen him do stuff like this.

I don't rate him as a keeper at all.

Neither do i but to be fair in the first leg he did keep the Spurs in it...made some stunning saves....just a shame that AC couldnt take advantage of his ineptness and score a few goals.

Meh congrats to Spurs...didnt think AC Milan were going to beat them tbh...they just arent the team they used to be sadly.

Looks like Dodgy 'Arry is running scared that he doesnt want Barca in the next round...dont blame him tbh as playing them is a scary proposition for any team at the moment...mind you getting beat by them is no bad thing really.

Yep you are correct, it was the game that Eduardo broke his leg and after that game we were never the same ie we were in with a good shout of winning the title but after that game our form went to pot...just like last yr when we again had a bad run in towards the end of the season.

AC Milan are 5 points clear at the top of Serie A. They're a decent side.

Obviously not that decent that they couldnt beat the Spurs:p....personally i dont think Serie A is all that good a league compared to other leagues esp the EPL and La Liga....

Well done Spurs, thought Seedorf was brilliant though from the bits of the game I saw, can't believe it for his age

LOL Seedorf is a monster...just keeps going and going and doesnt look like hes going to retire anytime soon...just a shame that the rest of the AC Milan side couldnt perform as well as him...34 yrs old and still going strong.

During a game, no, in a game that lasted somewhere close to 115-120minutes due to Eduardo having his leg broken, in a game where Arsenal took the lead twice and twice had the ref give incorrect calls which gave them equalisers, in a game where he saw his friends bone sticking out of his leg screaming in agony, at the END of a very long tiring emotional game that they still should have won and were cheated out of he...............................................

wait for it.........................

sat down, the nerve, what truly terrible shocking behaviour. Barton punches people, no one questions his commitment(except a possible one to an institution), Gerrard has a bunch of mates beat up a guy in a pub and go to jail for him, Diouf spits on people, Rooney assaults someone but Gallas has the real problem because he was upset, knackered and sat the hell down.

The more I hear people try to suggest Gallas had a dramatic strop because he SAT DOWN, the more retarded I think people in general might be.

Please, please explain to me how sitting down after a shattering emotional game is bad.

For the record, what happened at the end of the carling cup final......... thats right every Arsenal player sat down, emotional, shattered upset, what about world cup games, other teams in cup finals, or big games. But its terrible that Gallas did it.

Gallas is a bit weird, supposedly a bit of an outsider at Arsenal in terms of friends, being liked, but even so he was still regarded as the main leader at the club even after being stripped of his captaincy. Friendship has nothing to do with success as one of Utds best strike partnerships would say, one that won loads of titles. He is a great player, he was a great player, he's a freaking beast, strong, great in the air scores the odd important goal, drags a team playing not their best through an important game and we let him go on a free because Wengers become a total douchebag.

That's why it's so frustrating, think about how many points we've lost due to Vermaelen being injured.

We still, at this time don't really have a proper fixed return date. I'll be surprised if he's even back to form this season, say 5/6 games before the end. :/

I was right, he has scar tissue apparently that's fudged up the healing process.

:/
