UEFA Euro 2012 - Group D - ** spoilers ** (England, France, Sweden, Ukraine)

No I would be all over them if they even gave two ****s, regardless of winning or losing. I'd be all over them if the England manager actually had some power to get the premiership clubs to stop having players feigning injury for friendlies and then playing 4 days later. I'd be all over them if a team was picked on form rather than who you play for.

The performances from the highest paid stars shows time and time again in tournaments, say the right things and then go missing. Even when new players come in they get sucked down to the level of interest of the rest after a year. They go through the motions.

While you are entitled to your opinion, it just makes you like a **** if you come onto a majorly english forum, during the euro championship, and spout garbage like "I hope england lose".

Keep that kind of stuff to yourself, it's a bit childish.

We get it that the england team isn't very strong. We still try to enjoy it though.

The reason why we didn’t hear the band is because the stadium authorities confiscated their instruments. Apparently the FA and UEFA said they would be allowed to play. Hopefully this will be resolved for Friday's game.

Really? How petty of them. The atmosphere was bloody awful because of it.

Things England need to improve in my opinion being an arm-chair Coach.

-Stop giving the ball away cheaply. Whilst we had more possession than our other games in total % versus what would have normally have been seen, e.g. The Spain Friendly, England didn't retain possession enough to lead to chances for Young/welbeck. Did he even have a shot at goal?

Apart from that, I think if they stop giving the balls away cheaply then it might improve things across the board. Defending was good, not the best, but good. A number of situations could've been avoided with the number of power-shots at goal, especially the nasri goal which I think could have been dealt with better. I think it was equally the defenders and Hart's fault at that point, hart being a tad slow off the mark to save what would be considered a 'savable' goal in the circumstance and also the defenders for allowing nasri space. But apart from that shot, Hart was great with quite a few critical-saves which had he not saved, could've easily have seen the goals score at full time maybe 2-1 or 3-1.

I think overall I rate england's performance 7/10. Good goal by Lescott.

So all they need to do is become good at football? England's problem for years has been there inability to pass the ball, and retain possession. Parker looked shattered after an hour last night as he was doing so much running and it's just the first game. They should be able to break even with possession in the next few games but don't expect an easy game against the hosts who will be on a complete high after last nights result.

Why? People come on here every week during the regular season of a predominantly Manu fan forum and say 'I hope Manu lose' every week and there is nothing wrong with it. (Every other club faces the same treatment really, so why not international teams?)

stop having players feigning injury for friendlies and then playing 4 days later.

Maybe players wouldn't do this if national teams medical staff didn't shaft them or the manager by getting them to play too many games, too many times does it happen.

True but the national team playing in the euros is a bit more of a special occasion than weekly football in the PL.

Still, not saying I condone people hoping other PL teams lose, it's like trolling for the sake of trolling.

Why anyone would actively want their own country to lose is beyond me is ridiculous. Dont support them if you want but to want them to lose is just ridiculous.

Yesterday was dire im afraid, if the French werent as poor as they were England would have got a tonking. The Midfield were far too deep which created a massive gap to the forwards. Welbeck and Young did alright, 6 out of 10, just. Chamberlain was poor I thought, bar a couple of times he skipped away from the French he needlessley gave the ball away far too often. Parker was Parker, average. Backwards, sidewards BLOCK summed his night up. Gerrard was Englands MOTM, very disciplined performance and broke up several french attacks and assisted in the goal, gave the ball away a few times but easily the best we have in that position.

The defence was fine, Cole was cought out a few times but other than that it was pretty solid. Would have liked to see Carroll come on when Defoe did to be honest to change the game up but hey ho.

A draw was a decent result.

It's all over now, the TV pundits started banging on about how England have nothing to worry about, won't be threatened etc. etc. which means we're pretty much guaranteed to lose both remaining matches :p

Thats different. Thats hating teams they are rivals with etc. Usually Liverpool or City for Man U lol.

tbh i think we did the same old score sit back **** we have done previously its in the mentality it seems

on tonights other performances we can beat ukraine will draw against sweden i think

And Spain didn't do that against Italy? They played without a recognised striker at one point- 6 man midfield with 2 defensive mids. If that's not sitting back I don't know what is

disappointed with how deep we defended against france :(.

gerrard/parker way to deep for the goal, should have been on the edge of the area, perhaps a little on lescott/terry to push them out, next to no french players in the box but we had 4/5 england players :s

really don't understand why we didn't leave young and chamberlain upfield when we were defending corners, we just seemed to hoof the ball upfield with no one there.

hopefully gerrard won't keep coming so deep for the ball next game, leave that to parker and let him get it to him.

not sure if the french had decided to work on johnson but he went missing a few times leaving so much space and we got lucky that ribery's final ball wasn't to good as it could have been.

seems like ibra has brought his shooting boots so i hope we close him down quicker when we play sweden.

unlikely as it is if ukraine manage a draw with france we need to beat sweden cos i think the ukraine support could help them in the final game against us :(.

I dunno, Gerrard made some absolutely vital interceptions/blocks on the edge of our box. Dealt with some dangrous crosses into our 6 yard line too.

I see your point though.

Every time we get to a major international tournament there are plenty of people on here saying CL (and to a lesser extent league) is better quality and more exciting.

I didn't mention excitement and quality, I simply said the Euro tournament is more of a special occasion than club football. Given that it happens every four years, I'd say thats true.

Well surely something more exciting and better to watch is more special? International tournaments are hyped up but often massively disappointing.

Regardless of your definition of special your original point is still ridiculous. You're perfectly within your right to support whatever club or country you want.

The guy I aimed the comment at doesn't support anyone from the looks of it. It's just typical hate mongering and wanting England to lose, all the while being English. Defend it all you like, it's ridiculous.
