UEFA Euro 2016 - Round of 16 **spoilers** (25th - 27th June)

Plainly obvious really isn't it. We played so badly it made them look good, some of them are part timers, and are players are payed millions per year. They have a population of 300,000. Need I go on?

Russia have 3x the population of us, but look how they are. Population is irrelevant and I don't know why people keep quoting it.

It'a not irrelevant, larger potential pool to fish from is a bonus. Besides Russia don't have the self proclaimed best league in the world! (lol).

It comes down to education, training + development and opportunities at a high level, all if which this country provides very little of. It's going to get worse with the new tv cash aswell.

Until a revamp us done (think Germany 2000) then England will never be in a position to compete

Why are all the headlines and news saying its an embarrassment?

Iceland played well, showed good spirit and didn't park the bus. They're simply a better team than we are.

Let's be real here, anyone that even watches football a little bit is going to understand that that performance from England was embarrassing. So many over hit long balls, lots of mistakes, and that fact that we couldn't pick a stable starting 11 throughout this tournament.

Last nights game wasn't the only embarrassment, our whole Euro tournament has been a bit of a disaster from the group stages.

Unfortunately for him, a lot of the blame falls onto Hodgson due to silly tactics - But the players have to take some responsibility.

Population the size of Coventry, the fact football isn't their national sport and the fact their manager is a part-time dentist? Lol

Oh and also they have never reached the knockout stages ever before they played us.

Fair play to Iceland - they made us look like a shower of ****.

You know the way they keep rolling out Paul McCartney at things like the Olympics?

That'll be Rooney in 2018 and 2020.

He appears to be un-droppable.

I was staggered he had the balls to haul Rooney off, but it was far, far too late. Rooney had a good group stage but he was terrible last night.

Rashford apparently completed more dribbles (3) in the 4 minutes (plus injury time) he was on than any other England player over the 90 minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not sure Rashford should have been starting, but you're losing to Iceland. You need to start throwing a curve ball earlier than Hodgson did. Rashford was stripped and ready 10 minutes earlier. What were they doing in those 10 minutes?!

One thing I couldn't get over is the amount of play Wilshere got over the whole tournament. I don't think he got a 90 minute match in the last season just gone? I haven't seen him make a good touch, he was shocking.

Just another sign of Woy Bodgesons ineptitude as a manager.

Rooney should never have been taken off...not when Kane and Alli were still on the pitch.

Those two are getting off lightly. They were both poor throughout the tournament.

Woy should have been sacked after the WC 2014. His performance there was absolutely shocking. Even worse than this one.

Also still changing the team when in the actual competition was a massive mistake. Tournaments are all about momentum chopping and changing players will not allow the team to gel.

Sterling should have never even got a look in after the first game, wheelchair shouldn't have even got in the squad. Roy should have taken drinkwater etc. You can not just make an England team based on their wage packet and value, players must be picked on form.

Another problem for us is what Manager do we pick now? There is not really a lot to choose from is there. Gareth Southgate was shocking at Middlesborough, as was Neville in his managerial roles plus he was coach with Woy. Long gone are the greats of Bobby Robson and El Tel.

The only one that seems to have even 10% what it takes would be Pardew in my opinion.

I think everyone is being a bit disrespectful to Iceland, they showed in qualifying and the group stage that they are a decent side. England were awful though, I don't think they have any good chances, Iceland could have scored four.

People who write Woy instead of Roy need a slap.

Keep it civil.

If you are going to play the blame game then it should be at the people who have kept him in employment for they are the ones who shoulder the blame for this tournament fiasco by keeping him employed for so long.

I agree but it really sums up how **** our home grown over paid talent is!

Difference between being beaten by a better team and being beaten by better players. England had the best players on the pitch, Iceland had the best team and football being a Team sport the better team will often win despite lesser players.

The first 20 minutes was quite fun as, even though we'd just lost the lead I always felt "well, there's going to be a few more goals in this yet!", but our performance petered out in the second half.

Iceland were brilliant from the coaches and players to the fans. England were as bad as Iceland were good.

I thought he was the wrong appointment in the first place but to keep him on after the absolute tosh in 2014 was a disgrace. Dyke should be lynched.

It's not disrespectful, we should be beating them.
