the last time a vote was held in NI - it was 98.9% to stay in the Union.

There`s no will of the people to leave - only certain terrorists - I mean politicians (martin mcguiness) wants to raise the debate , but like the anti royalists in the UK , they are a minority

EMP effect from nukes is generally not that big on personal electronics IIRC - can't remember exact details in testing a only 7% of vehicles, 13% of street lights and <1% of personal electronics were affected.
 
I find the whole situation unnerving. I should really avoid reading all the news sites on such matters as it only fuels my anxiety. I wonder what the likelihood is of us being dragged into yet another foreign war, especially one against Russia.

The UN say a million people have moved within Ukraine and over 600,000 have estimated to have fled abroad but fail to say what 'particularly to Russia' means in terms of numbers. Last Winter it was reported in western media that 430,000 Ukrainians have asked for asylum or some sort of status in Russia.

Russia officials say 1 million refugees have fled to Russia but it doesn't tally up at the moment.

They might have initially fled to Russia but then gone on to other parts of the world as they wouldn't have been able to go direct from Ukraine in many cases.

I know. I was posting to counter the suggestion that the Russia has become some.sort.of safe haven for everyone . when most have either stayed in Ukraine or moved through Russia to other places.
Russian media is overplaying the numbers to appear as if all their actions are humanitarian. (Claiming a million refugees in russia etc).

Seems to be holding despite the 2am shelling.

The people opening fire on.maiden were always proclaimed to be Ukrainians were they not? The berkut police units generally.

Not only that, they are pushing for mariupol again. So they've just continued wherever they have the upper hand.
