*UK’s Prime Minister Johnson & Germany’s Chancellor Scholz Speak:

It's so weird hearing Scholz speaking English.

Edit: Have to say, this is one of the most impressive performances I've seen from Johnson. He actually comes across like a real Prime Minister for once. Although a bit odd that he refers to Chancellor Scholz as "Olaf" all the time, it comes across as inappropriately informal. Also: why do they let Journalist ask stupid, irrelevant questions at these things? What does Scholz or Ukraine have to do with Rishi's tax-dodging wife?

A move to more self sufficiency rather than a tenuous or even fatuous reliance on support from other members when the going gets tough. Just like the NHS the EU is a bureaucratic nightmare, where huge waste is endemic and decisions are so late in the making, if made at all, as to be historically irrelevant in a fast moving world. You have seen the joke that was the EU vaccination programme, and now the way it "works" is being laid bare in a near war situation.

They overtook us in their vaccination programme

The Ukraine situation aside, the EU (that Union that isn't..) are now bickering, close to open hostility even, over a none EU country (the "insignificant dot of an island" called Great Britain) being awarded a multi billion pound contract, to which British Telecom are the beneficiaries. They don't like it up `em, no Siree.... ;)

We are bickering too

If you want to still be politically in bed with the likes of Germany you must be some sort of masochist ;) And IMHO the present circumstances are close to sod all to do with us. Russia don't want NATO or EU countries on their direct borders, and to be honest, I can see why.

Are you advocating we should leave NATO as well?

It's Friday, fancied some fun.

Why wouldn't countries in a union bicker? Our politicians bicker constantly, I'd be more worried if they were all on the same page constantly.

Russia nor any other country gets to dictate what organisations other sovereign nations get to join or associate with. You have a very twisted way of looking at the world.

*United States Will Position One Patriot Missile System in Slovakia — U.S. Defense Secretary Austin

I cant work out from these Slovakia announcements if they only have "1" system (as in, literally one truck) or if its been lost in translation that its "a system of" aka multiples.

Would seem weird if their entire anti-air measures was one truck :D

*Russian Ministry Of Justice: Closes Russian Offices Of Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch Due To Violating Russian Law

Reports of a railway station in Kramatorsk mainly used for evacuations being hit. Suspected 30 dead and hundreds injured. Discgusitng.

And again, the Russians come out and play the 'it wasn't us, it was somebody else' card. It does get me thinking though, do they actually believe the constant stream of bullflop they shovel?

The significance is much more the presence of US military support, than the impact of the particular units sent. It's about communicating to Russia that the US considers its NATO commitment to Slovakia something that is takes seriously and will act to support.

Well that's ironic as it was fired right where children were....

'A retaliation on an attack on children '? Where have the Ukraines attacked children??

Well, the first sign of the truly mad is that they believe their own lies and propaganda*, and each times the Russian invaders have killed children they always claim it was the other side so in a truly delusional way they might term this a retaliation. Or far more likely, they deliberately targeted civilians once again. A bit strange because if they want to ethnically cleanse (and for ethnically in this case it doesn't seem to matter that most of the people in Mariupol speak Russian) and plant colonists (Crimea is meant to have gained 100,000s of new planters since they annexed it), you'd think they want to install fear (i.e. use terrorists tactics) so the natives flee.

*so it is possible Putin has become so delusion he expected a flower-throwing welcome instead of resistance.

They only have one system, one system isn't just one truck though, it's going to be a bunch of trucks - including a truck carrying the launcher, a truck for the radar system and a truck for the command post + other trucks for logistics - to carry additional mussiles.
