IIRC Russia never actually scrapped the 3 day war plan? each unit has enough ammo + fuel+ food for 3 days of continuous fighting at each base , and they could move from peace to war in 12 hours?

hence the entire nuke them if they reach breakout @ the Fulda gap

2 different tank types on there (as well as bmp)

definitely a T72B3 im afraid @ 27 seconds in on that video.

the IR lamp has been removed and you can see the Sosna-U gunners sight on the left side of the turret.

with the IR Lamp on the right side its a T72BA (or BM) but with the Kontakt-5 and the Sosna-U its a B3.

they are the very latest Russian main line equipment.

Beginning to think they (in general not that video specifically) might be Russian forces despite flying republic of Donetsk flags and markings and some of the AA and ewar platforms being dragged around on repurposed civilian vehicles - some of the newer videos show BTR-90s (not 80s) which afaik aren't very common in Ukraine.

You're correct I believe, in fact IIRC the BTR-90 was never built/used by Ukraine as it entered production after the collapse of the USSR. Instead Ukraine replaced the BTR-80 with the BTR-94, and also the BTR-3 and BTR-4 (because that numbering makes sense lol).

Having read elsewhere, their excuse (which excuses nothing!) seems to be the ceasefire only applies to the front lines, not an area within their territory when Kiev forces remain (because they can't escape).

6 soldiers killed since ceasefire and over 100 attacks registered by the ukrainians.

That video narrows it down to about a dozen T variants, people don't seem to understand how many types of these things the are and how similar they look.
Dont worry I know its not definite that's why I'm adding apparently when posting. I'm no expert on russian tank models beyond the basics.

Theres a video from russian TV "apparently" from the DPR leader saying they will not abide by any of the agreement as of the last few hours. I say apparently as I dont know russian :)

Turns out it was actually a T72-M1 as many T series use Thales systems, in fact Ukraine tendered to install them on Indians T72's back in 2001
Again, my understanding is that its not just the THALES system that denotes the T72B3 type, its just the easiest to spot.

It appears the rebels have offered to create a safe corridor to allow the trapped Kiev soldiers to retreat, however Kiev have turned down the proposal as they refuse to acknowledge they have any soldiers trapped behind enemy lines :(

They wouldn't be behind enemy lines if the rebels hadn't expanded around them during a ceasefire! Pretty sure they still occupied the town and the road in/out until this past day or so?

Are you telling me we don't train to fire our nukes? I understand what you're saying about defensive vs offensive, but Russia could have fired NBC weapons a long time ago if on the offensive with them.

it didn't really come across in the right way I think....

but if putin has his way , there might well be a few flashes over the Fulda gap sooner rather than later

And the EU has recognised russian troops are offically in the ukraine it seems due to the new blacklist -

http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=uriserv:OJ.L_.2015.040.01.0014.01.ENG

Russian deputy defence minister Anatoly Antonov is being added to its blacklist because he is “involved in supporting the deployment of Russian troops in Ukraine”.

It listed first deputy defence minister Arkady Bakhin for the same reason.
It also listed Andrei Kartapolov, a senior Russian military commander, for being “involved in shaping and implementing the military campaign of the Russian forces in Ukraine”.

The Public Movement ‘Novorossiya’/‘New Russia’ was established in November 2014 in Russia and is headed by Russian officer Igor Strelkov (identified as a staff member of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU)).
