How many countries does Putin have to invade to make you realise he has no interest in diplomacy. His diplomacy is putting a gun to a countries head and threatening to pull the trigger. Only this time he found his gun is loaded with blanks and is also missing the firing pin.
And the gun is in fact a banana given to him by the worried looking general behind him who is wearing some very expensive shoes.

The dam is suspected to be the reason Russia are taking civilians out of the area. https://news.sky.com/story/ukraine-...ped-out-12541713?postid=4704129#liveblog-body

Clearly trying to lay a trap for Ukraine forces.
Its a curious one
I mean its yet another thing the majority of the global community are going to react very badly to should Russia do it

No way are they clearing out all the civilians so its would cause mass civilian casualties.

Should they actually do it I actually think it could make things easier for Ukraine, would cut down the front line a bit, allow for a more concerted push around Mauripol which if they can push down far enough makes Crimea and south of Kherson basically impossible for Russia to supply and have a hope of holding medium term.

More like a trap for Russia as they're giving Ukraine enough ambiguity to 'help' Russia blow it up thus making the situation in Crimea impossible without the bridge being operational.
From what I've heard the western river bank is much higher than the eastern side, I don't doubt both sides would get some flooding, but it would be worse on the side russia want to hold.

I keep reading how heavy the Russian artillery is around Bakhmut, I'd have thought the Himars would have been picking them off or are they just focussed down south? Too risky in the east perhaps?
They were being used for more important duties like flattening ammunition depots or shaping operations for their counter attacks elsewhere plus I'm sure some of them have been taken out by now either by Russia or requiring maintenance. I imagine they have plenty of artillery around Bakhmut for dealing with most of the assaults so little need to waste precision instruments when imprecise ones will do.

Tik-tok army so hard to say what is real and what is fake, but I'm going to err on the side of fake with this one.

Bunch of idiots standing around for the camera trying to look clever/tough.

- Whenever U.S. Has Something Important to Communicate to the Russians, U.S. Will Do It
- Has Seen No Evidence That Russia Is Interested in Ending Its Aggression Toward Ukraine
- Far From Being Willing to Engage in Diplomacy, Putin Continues to Push in the Opposite Direction
