I think all the interested politicians from east and west should be invited to beat the hell out of each-other in a boxing ring, king of the ring, last man standing wins.

Brain dead morons the lot of them.

So if Crimea asks Russia for help because they believe they are under imminent threat from the Ukraine (which the Ukraine have all but confirmed by attempting to denounce Crimea's sovereignty and rights to self determination) then Russia shouldn't be allowed to help them.

But if the Ukraine asks for help because Russia is stopping it from attempting to conquer Crimea then the Ukraine should get help?

So you're for letting the ethnic ukranians and the tartars in the Crimea be annexed by Russia? that seems pretty unfair to almost 40% of the population!

Interesting how even in the latest photos, the Russian soldiers don't have magazines in their guns:

Of course Russia have a trump card in that they can say they do recognise Crimea's newly elected leader who has asked for Russian help:

"On Saturday the newly elected pro-Moscow leader of Crimea, Sergiy Aksyonov, appealed to Mr Putin for help to ensure peace on the peninsula."

There are plenty of pictures of them with magazines in their guns though seems all the most recent ones they haven't got them loaded for some reason.

What really concerns me about World War 3 starting over Russia & Crimea is the the Germans are actually on our side!!!
They've never won a world war!!

Just press the bloody button or pull the trigger will you.

On the flipside I don't think the Russians have won a war in the Crimea. (Though I could be wrong as I'm no history buff).

Do people think this will kick off?

Listening to 606 last night was interesting to hear them talk about all this posturing from both sides.

Pretty sure I heard, or read, somewhere that those two groups in that particular stand-off (the Russian naval Infantry outside the base and the Ukrainian Marines inside the base) unloaded their weapons to calm the tension a bit. Although in one newscast there was a Russian with a PKM fitted with a 200rd box magazine standing with them.

Ukraine is literally breaking apart, no one expected east and south to rise against new government in such way.... The maidan in Kiev is a joke compared to what Pro-Russian regions are currently doing.

We in the West, should have forced that agreement where Yanukovich was to remain president until emergency elections... We agreed to it, but then the Protesters decided they want to get rid of him right now....

They really bought it on themselves.... I mean the new government.... Who in their right mind removes Russian language first thing once in office in a country which is around 40% Russian... Bloody idiots, all I am going to say... They will end like Yanukovich sooner or later just fleeing to EU.

So lets say this does kick off, whats to follow after it does?

Actually quite hard to say right now, as pointed out above Ukraine is so badly splintered even their military capabilities are a mess. I suspect largely Putin will use it to posture and get concessions from the West while fortifying the Crimea, the West will probably quietly work behind the scenes to get Ukraine to back down while outwardly supporting them and the most likely outcome is little more than a few skirmishes and a large number of people displaced.

One thing I find a little worrying about the situation is that those who are currently coming to power in Ukraine seem to be relatively young, zealous and potentially have access to rebuilding their nuclear capabilities depending on how much control they have of the core of their armed forces and assuming no pre-emptive action taken by either the Russians or the West to deny them that - which in the situation, without the military power to backup their intentions they might feel like using those capabilites as a bargaining chip against the invaders.

I think the best we can hope for now is the Crimea to declare itself a republic, with Ukraine basically hoping the Russians don't push further. I can't see them pulling out at all.

they stopped official documents from being in Russian.
They did not ban the Russian language

why isn't any talking about the central bank of ukraine making changes which will cause hyper-inflation and IMF/corrupt bankers taking over

plus the video I posted before

the way everyone keeps saying it gives the impression they are trying to completely remove Russian speaking

Well there is a problem, Russian has been an official language in Ukraine and that made everyone happy....

It is kinda big thing really if a new government which comes in removes it as an official language, in a country where nearly half speak Russian.

I am sure you would understand why east and south feel hostility to new government, this was first law they passed.... Along with bans and removing of Soviet memrobilia a.k.a lenin statues and WW2 statues to fallen soldiers...

Dont you think this is a bit stupid to do first thing once you are in parliament??

What kind of message does that send out to Russian speaking population??? They got into Parliament did not discuss how to get country on track and functioning, they were deciding on how to remove Russian language and everything that reminded them of Russia or Soviet Union... As I said, how dumb do you have to be to do this....

I lost all support for Maidan thing since that... Those people do not understand simple things, how can you trust them to run a country.
