And carpet bombing doesn’t happen anymore. It’s inaccurate and wasteful.
I believe it was used in the second Gulf War as in part a psychological tactic.

Russia would carpet bomb if they had air dominance
But they don't, planes that fly over radar range get shot down, planes only survive flying under radar and you can't fly a large bomber low because they are big and slow and will get shot by man pads.
To effectively use a large bomber you need to fly high and directly over the target and it's impossible when the enemy has S300 launchers
Didn't they carpet bomb Tora Bora?B52 you mean. The B29 was a WW2 bomber. And carpet bombing doesn’t happen anymore. It’s inaccurate and wasteful.
I'd be surprised if the Ukrainian casualties are anything like as high as the Russians even if similar numbers were being wounded and killed outright, as from what I've been reading the Russians are loosing soldiers who should have survived with relative ease from things that even ww2 era first aid/training could deal with, let alone modern training, equipment and the understanding of the need to get casualties to proper treatment facilities as fast as possible.I don't know what Ukraine's losses are but I'm not sure they are as high as Russian losses - they've not deployed from the mobilised numbers to replace frontline losses at anything like the same extent. I find 10K extremely unlikely but they could be as low, relatively, as a little over 30K.
I think they were b-1 strikes with mass paveway strikes?Didn't they carpet bomb Tora Bora?
Just blame it on Wagner and call them terrorists already so we can start drone striking them wherever they are.
Is it still carpet bombing if every piece of ordinance dropped is a laser guided smart bomb?I think they were b-1 strikes with mass paveway strikes?
No, the idea of carpet bombing is to make up for lack of accuracy. Is it still carpet bombing if every piece of ordinance dropped is a laser guided smart bomb?
Pretty sure US used MOAB for that
Entirely likely as that’s the biggest bang a TACP can drop without Presidential approval.Pretty sure US used MOAB for that
Don't think so, to take them out Ukrainian SF would have to perform an SAS style operation to take them out while there on the ground.Does Ukraine have the capability to counter long-range Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers?
Apparently satellite images show a few of them loading up and getting ready to fly.
They are high altitude so could they be out of range? They carpet bomb large areas similar to the B29.
Wouldnt like to be on the ground with them overhead.

It’s almost as if the Russians planned to quietly and slowly reduce the Ukrainians defensive capabilities ahead of some military action.Don't think so, to take them out Ukrainian SF would have to perform an SAS style operation to take them out while there on the ground.
Just to think Ukraine actually handed over it's own long range bomber aircraft for debt relief on Russian gas supplied to Ukraine and now they are being used to destroy Ukraine's own cities.
