We don't have any challenger IIIs at the moment, only start to be delivered in 2027 iirc.

I think it's quite a reasonable question whether the challenger III upgrades still make sense, and whether giving more tanks to Ukraine might be a better use... Also we may well want more / different tanks after learning lessons from Ukraine...

Then again also fair comment that logistics will be harder for them than leopards, so certainly at the moment the main value is diplomatic, convincing other countries (cough Germany cough) to do the same. If we gave them more then they could actually be a very capable tank force though.

Personally I say give Ukraine as many working tanks as possible (as long as they want them), with as much support as possible.
Thanks for the clarification. I hadn't realized that we don't actually have them modified yet! eek.

From a few hours ago: apparently pictured is Russian infantry moving towards Ukrainian lines in Zaporizhzhia with no armoured support

Europe needs a strong resurgent military Germany.

I think Ukraine are going to run out of fighting age men long before Russia does. I don't see anything other than a Russian victory at the moment. Sadly.

Yes - but were talking 16 million fighting age men and women. German WW2 combat deaths were 5.1 million total - USSR around 11 million; bulk of German deaths ere Eastern Front 1944 onwards
