The West don't want this to end, they are now using it to bring Russia down. They could easily encourage Ukraine to negotiate, but this is not the aim now.

With Tanks going over this is a major escalation.

Ah yes, the standard Tik Tok / social media reply I see every day from bots, conspriacy theorists and fans of the right and Putin, almost to the letter.

I've replied to a few, but it gets boring. Hitting Russia where is hurts for what they've done is a side affect, lets call it a nice added bonus especially how clear it is how they have proven themselves happy to go into many countries the last decade and destroy every living thing. But it's not the reason why we are arming Ukraine, that is as has always been to help them stop being slaughtered and completey taken over (by force) by Russia, and try to push Russia back out of Ukraine since it won't negotiate (you can argue they say they will but the starting terms of negotiation are not acceptable to anyone).

They won't do anything if we supply Tanks. Their Nuclear threats are what they are - threats. We know the doctrine. Nobody is going to start properly having a go at proper Russian territory because nobody has any interest (nor ever had) in invading Russia. Now the west has weaned itself off Russian gas and oil, it is irrellevant in the world stage militarily and economically. It's entirely their choice to be welcomed back but it starts with withdrawing from Ukraine soverign territory and internationally recognised borders.

What is there to negotiate? If Russia wants an end to this they can leave Ukraine at any time.

Russia is not going to leave the Eastern regions now.

They were autonomous and pro russian before due to the Ukraine government being overthrown. Russia will not leave them now.

So I ask you all on here (seem quite young probably don't remember the fups that were the Iraq war and the lies that were told then)

What is the end game now? Are we to keep prolonging this until how many more Ukraine + Russian casualties?
Russia will use nukes now before giving up the territory they have. Is this what you want?

Bottom line is Russia will not give these regions up now. So whats the plan?

Funny how regions that had local warlords armed and financed by Moscow became ‘pro-Russian’ while the rest of the Donbas didn’t?? Nor all those Russian speaking cities like Kharkiv or mariupol (before it was flattened). Someone really ought to tell the Ukrainians they’re supposed to be pro Russian, the silly Billy’s.

Russia wasn’t going to give back Kherson city, which also weirdly ‘voted’ massively in favour of being Russian. But in the end they were forced to. Just like they’ve been forced to leave Kharkiv oblast/province.
Your snarky comment when someone suggested they’ll take back the rest, which isn’t out of the question given they’ve succeeded in every major counter so far, kinda gives away your position in this though.

It depends - are you expecting Russia not to continue to be aggressive and invade sovereign states?

The bottom line is the war continues as long as Ukraine continue to wish todo so.

Sorry you think that this war is only up to the west.. it's a war that Russia wished.

Ukraine's misery doesn't stop here if they give up now and we've seen throughout history appeasement now just emboldens tyrants causing much more damage in the long run.

Your sentiments might be well meaning but utterly out of sync with how this will play out in the real world.

EDIT: Strangely enough those eastern regions tend to have a dramatic change of heart after a bit of Russian occupation...

I'm in my 50s thanks and unlike you I'm not wetting my pants because "Russia nukes"

Amazing you people who are happy for territory to just be handed over to an invading country. You'd have been right next to Chamberlain in the late 1930s appeasing Hitler just as you seem happy to appease Putin. Grow a backbone man ffs.

The plan is to supply Ukraine with everything they need to drive Russia out of Ukraine and get back to the 2014 borders.

It's always funny to me how people are demanding Ukraine to put an end to things despite them not being the ones to start them.

I know, it's almost like seeing over 250,000 dead and wounded soldiers plus tens of thousands of dead civilians makes people want to stop the killing rather than think it's better to keep the killing going, the weirdos!

As always, my usual disclaimer that "THIS IS ALL RUSSIA'S FAULT AND THEY SHOULD LEAVE" still stands, which you have to add nowadays because otherwise the hate-filled "progressive" members of OcUK who have fetishised Russian deaths (but would never join a Ukrainian volunteer force) will call me pro-Russian, yet again.

The problem is that many, Ukraine included, can see that this just kicks the problem down the road and could lead to more deaths longer term.

It's not Ukraines fault though is it?

If Russia leave, great, no one has to die (I've said here before that the deaths are tragic and that includes the Russian side), if not, then this will just continue because Ukraine can't afford to roll over and let Russia win.

Your stance seems very pro-Russian to me, because what you often wind up saying equates to "Ukraine should stop fighting". You presumably don't spend equal time on Russian speaking forums asking them to stop the war in Ukraine to save lives?
