It suggests they’re worried Ukraine has some longer range capabilities incoming. One can only hope, especially given how bang average Russian air defence is.

It is difficult to know how to interpret it though the most straight forward explanation is concerns with regard to Ukraine and long range capabilities. Russia seems to be doing things in rather odd order and/or in ways which don't make much sense to a Western observer.

Rubbish. The US already made moves against the Chinese economy in other areas e.g. semiconductors and is hammering them in this area, even in the early stages of the strategy. That said, they’ll only do it if it advances their own interests, they don’t give two hoots about Ukraine.

Literally every hit says the same thing, the US would be crippled.

They may be crippled, but China would be dead. The Chinese economy is already faltering, with people rioting because their life savings are gone due to the corrupt government officials and their cronies in the banks stealing the money. Then there's the massive building projects that cost billions and billions on paper but were done on the cheap so the same corrupt CCP officials could syphon off even more money into their accounts.

Don’t believe everything you read on Google. It’s not as straightforward as you make out.

This.

The big risk in supplying Ukraine with large quantities of offensive weapons is, imo, that the war spills over into Russia. At that point things could get very out of control quite quickly.

It could get messy - but there is a big difference between pushing Russia out of Ukraine and Ukraine going on the offensive into Russia - people generally seem to get a different perception but Russia still has a significant proportion of its regular armed forces intact which it would be forced to utilise should the war spill into Russia proper.

Why would Ukraine even want any of the trash on the other side of the border?

Same with Finland with Vyborg or Germany with Prussia, it's no longer even worth looking at.

The Ukranians need to push them back to border and then stop, however galling that would be. Crimea will be the big one if it comes to that. Ukraine wants that back, I'm not so sure they would have as much support if they go that way.
IF the Americans send 30-50 Abrams, we send 14 Challengers, and Europe send a rumoured 100 Leopards then things are going to get spicey.

The Biden administration is leaning toward sending a significant number of Abrams M1 tanks to Ukraine and an announcement of the deliveries could come this week, U.S. officials said.

Yes please, let’s get this over with. It doesn’t sound like Russia would be able to counter a good few modern tanks.
