Driving up the M1 today I stopped at a service station. There was a group of Ukranian soldiers ordering from McDonald's. When they sat down I saw a bunch of British soldiers with them. I guess it was a training group. Nice to see.

Ukraine intelligence claiming Russian reinforcements in the 10s of thousands moving into Mariupol and Crimea for an expected offensive - not really seen it backed up but sadly a lot of the OSINT sources which were covering this kind of stuff are now just repeating/amplifying mainstream new reports 
Also a new combined Russian military/Wagner assault on Bakhmut ongoing apparently, sounds like pretty heavy stuff.

I hope when all this is over that we continue to have a close relationship with Ukrainian military, there is so much we can learn from each other.
British soldiers with genuine combat experience are becoming a rare breed, its now pushing 8-9 years+ since we last saw regular combat, HERRICK ended in the latter part of 2014, and even the late HERRICK tours were a lot less kinetic. A lot of our experienced soldiers have moved on and packed it in, the majority of us left are in more senior ranks looking toward the latter end of our careers. Soon it will be Ukrainians who will be training us on the current threats and TTP's... I think its safe to say that they are probably the most current and competent combat force at the moment.
From what I've heard, combat in Ukraine is very different from combat in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I wonder how many, if any, try to run away. I mean they're in a nicer country at peace, they must be tough to happily leave knowing they might die in a ditch while they eating a hamburger in peace
On a similar note, it will be interesting to see how quickly Russia's North Korean reinforcements surrender. Can imagine them running at the Ukrainian lines waving white flags and loudly reciting the part of the Geneva convention about feeding POWs xD
I reckon they'll be ones with family back in NK amongst other things to disincentivize them from deserting.
Sounds like they are just going to be used as a form of Police form initially.
Yes on the fighting front they stand alone, the west are weapons dealers, every war is fought by being supplied with weapons
Russia are being supplied by Iran and North kores, Probably some others too.
So don't try and say NATO are fighting this war.
It's just another example of the Copium being used by Russian Sympathizers.
It serves 2 purposes really.
1. Makes Russia appear less like they aggressor to home audiences.
2. Conceal the utter ineptitude of Russian Military Hardware, Training and Personnel from home audiences.
If they actually admitted they were "only" fighting Ukraine and getting their ass kicked, they would look so profoundly weak to all their supporters whom they have been lying to for decades about being strong and "the 2nd strongest army in the world" etc..
'Weapons dealers' it is for our country. Good for me.
Ill try to remember that next time there is a call more 'support'.
Another thing is that this is very much a proxy war and we haven't done that in a very long time.
