Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

What the heck is going on. The US is signalling that invasion is about to happen yet I just cannot understand why it would happen. What has changed since 2014's position and how would further invasion of Ukraine help Russia's position. It just doesn't make sense unless there is something going to behind the curtain. None of this makes sense. I can understand posturing for negotiations and I can understand strong rhetoric to gather internal political support from the electorate but I just cannot see a full scale invasion happening, it just does not make sense for anybody involved.
 
The last statement from Putin has pretty much laid it all out. Ukraine can’t join NATO as it will result in a war over Crimea which Russia will use nukes to prevent. Russia will fight Ukraine without the help of NATO beyond the hardware they’ve received. I’m not sure how this kind of battle will fair for both sides.

This is what I'm saying, clearly the US/UK intelligence agencies know a lot more than they care to tell us, as this just dosnt seen to add up right.

Put the crack pipe down buddy! Nobody wants this, but why should one countries sovereignty suffer because Putin is being a ****. We wont be going to war unless things take a hugely unexpected turn for the worse and Russia goes full retard. We'll stand back and tell them how naughty they have been and apply sanctions.

Russia:
- will not be able to maintain such a large army in the future due to declining population
- can greatly reduce the land border that needs to be defended by expanding territory to better make use of geographical features
- wants more of useful habitable territory, most of it is cold snowy trash
- from the russian perspective, it's now or never
- plus the salty ppl like putin wishing they'd never lost the territory to begin with

I can't see an invasion during the Beijing Olympics. China wouldn't want it obscuring the event on the news. If there is an invasion I think it will be after 20th.

Putin won't rain on Xi's parade it'd be too much of a ruckus, once the olympics are over all bets are off. In a month or less the ground will be thawing and they won't want to get bogged down in a quagmire so the window for action is getting smaller

If any of these points were appropriate then 2014 invasion would not have stopped at a fraction of Donbas region.
