That's cool but it's an old video from before the war

Lots of footage like that appearing a lot of it hard to verify but some showing unit patches of recently constituted units and/or military vehicles only supplied to Ukraine in the past weeks or months.

It isn't actually that unusual though probably in that case a different explanation - I've seen them circle just off Sigonella, etc. for hours before heading off on a mission.

The US/NATO seems to have had quite a high concern as to the movement of Russian naval assets, especially submarines, over the last few days though for some reason - I know Russia was doing some naval exercises but I think those were mostly outside of European areas of interest.

Damn that's crazy.

For people who don't recognise the name that's their infamous "a guided missile destroyer but the size of a battleship", the only one of it's kind still in service. Known for being the largest ship of it's type ever built it and one of the prides of the Russian navy since the 90s.

Kinda crazy they're scrapping that and not their heavy aviation cruiser that spends most of it's time broken, their military budgets must really be suffering, excellent.

Perhaps the decision to retire Peter the Great’s come about because Admiral Nakhimov’s decade or more undergoing an upgrade and refit is at last coming to an end, and she’s going to replace Peter the Great as Northern Fleet flagship.

As impressive and powerful as these ships are though, it’d also make them a priority target, and in the age of stealth aircraft, stealth anti-ship missiles and SSN’s armed with advanced heavy-weight torpedos like Spearfish, MK.48 ADCAP etc, these things wouldn’t last that long anyway in the event of it kicking off between Russia and NATO.

Edit: Just looked it up and Admiral Nakhimov’s been in and out of refit since 1997! I mean, I know these are complex engineering projects, but bloody hell! Also, Russia apparently says they’re not retiring Pytoy Veliyki, yet they’re also giving her name to the 8th boat of the Boreii class SSBN’s to be laid down next year, so it sounds unclear as to what Pytor’s fate will be. I wonder if the Russians even know.

Really does tend to indicate an accidental release rather than a missile going off target:

Russia seems to have a problem with missiles staying attached to their planes :s

Unrelated to that - US exercises tonight aren't inspiring me - various airborne command missions with unusual EAMs tends to indicate they are drilling for something.

Might be preparing for this?

The US is sending a contingent into Sudan to evacuate people

Africa always wants the West to keep out until it's time to clean up her messes. I think we should just stay out this time. I can't remember the last time we achieved anything significantly helpful during an African war.

It would be fair for the US and France to have a military presence in order to safely evacuate their staff and citizens though

Yep. Putin has actually made it far worse for himself.

Almost the final nail in the coffin for Putin, NATO must be very confident that Ukraine can prevail.

Beautiful that it’s finally being said. They have to now ensure Ukraine’s victory. Putin has massively shot himself in the foot. Can’t be long until the usual muppets start posting in here about how scared they are that this may lead to nuclear war etc etc :p
