As much as I despise these barbarians, their army recruitment campaign is head and shoulders above the embarrassingly woke US effort.

Putin has avoided putting himself in predictable places lately, though he could use a body double but I wonder if for a big event like that his ego won't let him and he'd rather it was cancelled. There has been a lot of talk of infighting lately but I'm not sure how much is real and how much is done for theatrics - it is a good way to flush out those who aren't loyal. It may be he is paranoid as to external threats or worried about internal disputes.

The combined GDP of NATO's European members is $18.35 trillion. The US adds a further $23.32 trillion. Meanwhile, Russia's economy is a paltry $2.03 trillion (about the same size as New York's). Even Australia's economy is larger than Russia's, despite the fact that our population is 5.5 times smaller.
If NATO decided to scrap with Putin, the result would not be a world war; it would be a one-sided annihilation. Putin knows this, which is why he's desperate to avoid a direct conflict with NATO. He needs to keep Ukraine ineligible for NATO membership for as long as possible, and the only way to do that is to prolong the war.
