Lancet homes in on a target scouted and highlighted by the overwatch drone (typically Orlan). Would be quite hopeless to detect a hidden target from afar using just its own onboard camera.
Don't think the guidance signal is relayed from the other drone, just the destination.
Since Lancet is used by MOD units there is also a requirement for kill confirmation footage. Which is usually not the case for other diy FPV drones.

They use drones to scout for targets then launch the lancet

Surely the best single weapon system would be the M270 and HIMARS systems given how much damage they've down to the Russian army and it's logistics? The Ukrainian drone boats are a nuisance for the black sea fleet but can't stop them from firing missiles, so far their biggest impact was taking out part of the Kerch bridge (but didn't touch the rail the line which is used for sending supplies). Lancets are good and have probably been Russia's best new weapon but their impact is way overstated, their slow, lack manoeuvrability, can be shot down with infantry rifles and the warhead lacks impact (one hit a Panzerhaubitze 2000 causing it only minor damage).

You missed the surprising bit

The effectiveness of HIMARS etc was well known and predicted
 
This video from the Sun is pretty interesting and shows how war drives innovation. There's one guy walking around on this strange looking pods he's attached to his boots, the idea behind them is by raising their feet of the ground it gives the sappers protection from anti personal mines and lowers injury rates. All made using 3D printers.

That's something people in the West find it hard to get our head around - actual reality (truth) doesn't matter to them, it's what they WANT it to be for political purposes. I guess we've just entered this phase post 2016 - alternative facts, experts don't matter, Trump lies, Brexit etc.

It debases to the point of entering new territory that you almost don't know how to approach it - you provide absolute, unequivocal evidence what's been said is wrong but they simply hand wave it away. For China, Russia Gov this is totally normal, no matter how big the lie.

I know it's off topic but the genocide going on in Xinjiang province, the sheer volume of leaked Gov data (the logistics of what they've done is huge) that's been analysed leaves zero doubt. The "it's all fake, anti-Chinese propaganda" from CCP officials is nothing short of complete detachment from reality, it's just weird for most every day folks in the West to hear complete 100% denials like this.

I would like to see a single military in the world that would announce to everyone how successful their enemy hit was and how much damage they inflicted.
If you control the media enough, your population might never see anything that proves otherwise or dismiss it as info warfare.

Have you seen a single damage report where a russian cruise missile actually hit an important target (say Kinzhal pre-Patriot deployement)? Nope, it is always civilian and humanitarian damage being reported.

If there are videos and photos everywhere of something being hit then no, most countries would not then try and pretend it never happened.

Ukrainian losses do seem well reported. The Russians on the other hand take propaganda and deliberate mis reporting even within its own command chain to another level.
