It hasn't stopped them in the past.
They start with the most positive press release first, and then revise the narrative down to something resembling the reality of whatever publicly available evidence is floating around.
That doesn't mean they are lying this time, but I will wait until there's more info.

But this is not a case of starting with the most positive press release. In fact, I don't think there's even been a press release. Instead we have Russians in Telegram channels talking about Ukrainian S-200 strikes.
Why would the Russians spread the lie that Ukraine has successfully hit the bridge?

The reason they would claim a strike is so they can claim they intercepted all the missiles.

Regarding the training given by NATO forces to new Ukrainian recruits - and TBF this shouldn't be a surprise considering the type of warfare currently being used - Open Democracy reported that the training, whilst greatly received, isn't as useful in reality as the Ukrainians had hoped, as the NATO instructors were considered to be too "insurgency in towns" focused and not "WW1 style trench clearing or de-mining in open fields" focused, alongside NATO having exercises being against weaker "enemies" as NATO would have already reduced enemy numbers before attacking, whilst Ukraine can't do the same in reality.

The reality of the situation will be apparent soon enough. They could be suspending traffic because they suspect more attacks are underway, but if traffic doesn't resume soon after, we will know the attacks have had some level of success.
Conversely, if traffic starts back up, the Russians may have indeed intercepted all missles this time.

I am confident with Russias failings that their nuclear capacity is an utter smoke screen and they would not be able to retaliate, their nuclear arsenal is a paper tiger, and has not been maintained, to save costs, which is also why their army is so wet and pathetic. It was all for show. There is no Russian might, we need to annihilate the idea of it, Nukes and their surrender would do this.
I think the UK should lead the way, and take over Russia once they have bent the knee, for too long have they attacked us in cowardly ways, including with chemical weapons, and for too long we have done nothing.
Yes “innocent” civilians will die, but they are innocent civilians of a country that is currently enslaving and killing innocent people in Ukraine.
