Iranian kamikaze drones used in the latest attacks on Ukrainian cities are filled with European components, according to a secret document sent by Kyiv to its western allies in which it appeals for long-range missiles to attack production sites in Russia, Iran and Syria.

Among the suggestions for action by Ukraine’s western allies – at which they would probably baulk – are “missile strikes on the production plants of these UAVs in Iran, Syria, as well as on a potential production site in the Russian federation”.

The document goes on: “The above may be carried out by the Ukrainian defence forces if partners provide the necessary means of destruction.”

The yanks love their acronyms, but I love the fact they pretty much always say the acronym, then because its been forced to sound good they then explain what it means, kind of defeats the point

Some believe that the brand name for a well known US car manufacturer came from the heavily produced WWII GPW which became the acronym GP (which American servicemen pronounced Jeep).

Im not sure they can get round the component issue the parts are probably in everyday items which are easy to ship elsewhere.

As for attacking Iran and Syria I think Ukraine should just focus on getting Russia out tbh.

Yes.....on the back of a struggle between 2 countries. Well known and understood. Providing weapons for another attack vector for another country openly supported by NATO would be rather different...

israel have bombed both in the past, if it weakens iran they usually have no hesitation in an air raid every now and then

Given the delicate democratic situation, particularly with the "global south" ( I'm so old, I remember it being the "third world"), the west whacking Iran or any other formally unaligned state will look really bad.

Also, Syria is being accepted back into the Arab fold, and hitting them is likely to go down very badly with an increasingly assertive MBS.

It's not the old days when you can just spank the natives with impunity.
