Yeah no way will they chance an interception by a nato vessel, and let's face it, China has Russias back ,in a stand off way at least.

True, but train tracks in the middle of nowhere, like Siberia or the Russian Steppe, are easy to sabotage.

I'm sure I read that they are being shipped out of North Korea to a Russian port and then train through Russia.
China really don't want these going through their territory as it would be an clear proof of dodging sanctions and put them in a position of having to do something about it or face Western sanctions. Also ... in their shoes, would you really want train-loads of explosive stuff from North Korean stockpiles going anywhere near your territory.
