You do know that in the UK it was woman who had a huge part in making munitions and industrial production including ship building in WW2? Keeping an economy going is no longer just the mans domain

It's a far more complex picture that this. Yes, women took over many existing jobs that allowed men to be conscripted along with filling many of the new roles created by the construction of new factories alongside a myriad of other roles. However there were many men, around 5 million, who were exempted form military service under list of reserved occupations. These were seen as being too vital to the war effort for these men to be conscripted. In addition to this they did have to help contribute in other ways too. i.e. joining the ARP or the Home Guard.

I recently spoke with an old chap who was of prime age to be conscripted in WW2 but spent the war working at Bamford's in Uttoxeter making spare parts for agricultural machinery. His job was to ensure the nation was fed.

There were also about 22,000 men who were conscripted as Bevin Boy and sent to work in coal mines instead of into the armed forces such was the manpower shortages in some roles that the government were unwilling to fill with women.

It's become quite common to laugh at the Russian soldiers due to their incompetence/ineffectiveness but it shouldn't be forgotten what genocidal barbarians they are.

It's worth remembering that when it says "died in an underground shelter" it wasn't because the shelter failed to protect people from air strikes, it was because when the Russians took Bucha they rounded up every man, woman and child they could find, led them underground and raped, tortured and executed them all.

We should really stop calling them Russians and refer to them as "Lemmings" they do as Lemmings do just follow one by one over the cliff.
That's pretty accurate isn't it! In reality the lemmings were chased so they had nowhere else to go but over the edge, and the presenter made out they did it of their own volition. Russia would have us believe there are people lining up to run into this fight. They're mostly lining up with a gun pointing at them I imagine.

Everywhere you read people say the Russians have been hopeless but they are still in Ukraine and still holding most of the ground they gained on the east, seems to be a lot of hype on how bad they are supposed to be yet results do not seem to match that hype.
They hyped themselves as the best military in the world, a huge superpower, lets look at their results

Putin said he would take Ukraine in 3 days, I have no doubt the US would have taken Ukraine in 3 days if it was them and not Russia.

Putins superpower status was a myth, in fact they were incompetent. Personally I think Putin believed his own hype.

They failed to take the runway at the start, so they couldn't get the troops where they needed to be to take Kyiv a huge blunder.

Their 40 mile long armour column got gridlocked and destroyed. I'm sure we all remember that huge convoy just sitting there because they couldn't move, or retreat leaving easy pickings for the Ukrainians to pick off one by one.

They then decided to just sit back and launch thousand of missiles at people homes, thats spite not war, a war crime.

Air superiority is a must from day one, again something the US excel at, the Russians couldn't do it, still cant

Their maintenance was so bad their equipment hadn't been serviced for god know how many years and the fail rate was astonomical

They burnt through all their so called special equipment, Armata etc that they are now using 50 year old tanks and BMP's remember their terminators, no neither do they.

They now rely very heavily on Iran and north Korea for help, the Chinese will also be secretly helping them with equipment but its keeping them in the war not winning it

Their allies, the feared "Chechens" were all tiktok smiles then proceeded to get decimated, again their armour column was intercepted and wiped out, as was the 300 sent to assassinate Zelensky at the start of the war, do we even hear about them now?

So after all that why are they still in this war even though its no longer about taking Ukraine? Putins pride is why they are still there.

All he has now are numbers, huge numbers of cannon fodder stuck where they managed to take at the start, they're going nowhere else, all they can do now is reinforce their current positions with endless cannon fodder and lob a few of their very few missiles they can scrape up every day

So yes The Russians have been hopeless, they blundered their way through this allowing hundreds of thousands of their young men to die.

Numbers keep them where they are no doubt about it but those numbers cant last forever at the rate they are burning through men.

So yes for the second best military in the world I think hopeless is a pretty good way to put it.

They failed to take the runway at the start, so they couldn't get the troops where they needed to be to take Kyiv a huge blunder.
Slight correction, they took the runway, then the first transports they sent got blasted out of the sky killing hundreds of Spetznas, so they stopped sending them and the guys holding the airfield got overwhelmed and killed. The single biggest loss of special forces in a single day sustained by any nation (with actual special forces) since WW2.

Apart from that, pretty much 100% on the money, a total clown show led by a fool who believed the assessments of his military's capabilities given to him by the yes men he had surrounded himself with.

Wow was you there? That's crazy!

They burnt through all their so called special equipment, Armata etc that they are now using 50 year old tanks and BMP's remember their terminators, no neither do they.

I don't believe, outside of one parade ground showing, the Armata has featured in this war at all - they only have approximately 2 which are even combat operational and no production line - they are all hand built.

Terminators were introduced about 5-6 weeks or more into the war, to so far forgettable results - I don't think more than 1-2 dozen of them have even been committed to Ukraine.

Take the west sweep east and cut off Crimea destroy the bridge then starve them out.
The problem with the lay siege and starve them idea, is that despite what Vlad likes to think it's not a Russian peninsula, it's an occupied Ukrainian peninsula with tens of thousands of Ukrainians still trapped there.

If you cut off the supply of food it won't be the Russians who are made to starve first :(

Very interesting, I assumed it was a raid last week but they are still there.

A little bit more below.

If we start seeing Ukrainian tanks over the Dnipro, then I guess we can say its more than just a raid.

Surely this was always going to come down to if the Ukrainian's can maintain bridge over the Dnipro?

The manoeuvre always seemed too large to be raid for me.

Assuming the Ukrainians can secure enough of an area it’s a viable point to attack from without a road bridge. Even more viable come winter. Many of the APC’s the Ukrainians operate are also amphibious.
