I fully expect increasing financial sanctions on Russia and key individuals over the next weeks. This is not recognising a kettle as a kettle, it is an entirely different kind of pot.

We shall see, I believe we will be limited to more of the same. Aka individualized sanctions on individuals who have been sanctioned since 2014. Unless Russia goes past Donbass.

Different kind of pot will be when Russian SWIFT goes off, they can't buy literally nothing from west or sell and they basically get turned into North Korea or Iran. That is a pot.

What kind of action would it take for SWIFT to be off? Past Ukraine or majority of Ukraine?

US and UK, yes. Maybe the 27 of the EU will take a bit longer. Tomorrow for the UK first tranche and the US has a package ready to go if Russia invades Ukraine.as well as the two areas identified.
 
I am wondering how Zelenskyy responds to this. In my opinion, his best move now is just to swallow his pride and forget ever getting this area back and accept the recognition, obviously as a matter of great sadness, but Ukraine as a country has to move on regardless, this can become a massive opportunity to move Ukraine forward. Russia has done this as a big FU to his leadership and his Government. The best recourse in my opinion is to agree a DMZ and a peace and his goal should be to make Ukraine prosperous, first vast swathes of governmental reform is required, cut out the corruption and lobbies as well as Russian interference will be far greatly supported then it was before, become trustworthy with the aim to join the EU or at least a very close trading partner, he would get his revenge by making Ukraine a far better place to live then being part of Russian backed Republic. That's how I think he should proceed, but well, let's see.
 
Best case for Ukraine would be to create DMZ. Work on domestic policies and market. Crimea and Donbas will crawl themselves back if Ukraine will get to a point where people live there like in western europe.

By then, just like NK and SK - SK is not even that thrilled about unification cause NK is that poor and behind.

Yes but even if he does all that russian can manufacture a false flag attack any time and roll further in...
