As an aside; since when did UK News coverage get to the point where we have journalists like Harry Cole giving his "expert opinion" on the geopolitics of Eastern Europe instead of actually getting some people in who know what they're talking about?
Its time to scrap these "paper reviews" with guests who haven't really got a clue

Per CNN, the declaration of independence is not grounds for not meeting. They just think Russia will invade further.

I wish there was more we could do for the Ukraine but any direct action we take may well escalate matters further.

Russia seem hell bent on seeing Europe as the enemy, despite the fact I think for most of us we'd rather just get along.

This action to recognise the independence of the rebel states is nothing but smoke and mirrors, it's a stepping stone to something bigger.

Zelenskiy just said, Russia has simply legalized its forces in Donbass that were there since 2014. Once again, this is not that big of a move as people make.

The reaction from the international community should tell you this is not ‘nothing’. Putin has taken action specifically to antagonise the West and Ukraine. It really couldn’t be more obvious yet you seem to have your head in the sand as to its severity.

I feel for the people of Ukraine, can't think what they are going through. I've got colleagues through an outsourced supplier who live there and they are the most hard working, helpful, kind and professional people. On calls I really want to ask if everything is OK but I feel it'd be somewhat condescending if I did.

Why on earth would he do that come back another day for what? Mobilise basically the entire russian army surround an entire country just to turn around and go home again? For a couple of muddy patches of land in the far east of the country? Righto chaps we've given those in the west a darn good talking to now lets bugger off home!

Of course we let him have it they aren't part of NATO and we're not going to war over it, Estonia et al now thats going to be interesting wondering if Biden will put some troops on their soil as he did with Poland.

He's a regular commentator, its journalists reviewing the papers, he's a journalist.

He'll be able to coach Zelensky on how to lie to a nation to claim the war is over and how to get Russia done


Seems like Ukraine will be sleepwalking into full invasion if they think they can solve this by diplomatic means, Putin literally holds all the cards
