We should begin the immediate evacuation of all 20ish Ukrainian women to the UK for resettlement, the type of immigration we can all get behind.
Supposedly he looks better in death than he ever did in life, been preserved for 90 odd years, yeah creepy. Maybe Putin has a ghostwriter who lives in his Mausoleum and well its time to resurrect the union.

France and Germany made a lot of noise about the ceasefire agreement so it's unfortunately natural for them to try to defend it, but the bigger picture is that Europe (ex-SSR's hold a different view) just doesn't trust the US enough to keep the previous geopolitical system going.
Thankfully that distrust apparently means that the European public (even Germany) want higher defence spending going by polling on the matter, so I think overall a more balanced relationship regarding security of Europe which doesn't overly depend on the stability of the American political system will end being better for everyone in the long run.
The polarisation of NATO was always going to occur without the USSR around to justify it and European establishment naturally wants to reassert it's sovereignty whenever the opportunity arises, perhaps that's about to change with recent developments such that NATO itself is reinvigorated... but who knows.
That's exactly what you said when Hitler attacked Poland in 1939 and look where that got you. Europe needs to be united for once or look idle how the new world war begins again. Putin won't stop with Ukraine. Russians never do.

I think NATO should call Putin's bluff and fly into Kyiv with enough soldiers and equipment to defend the city so that Ukraine can send it's forces elsewhere.
Though it would legitimise Putin's rhetoric (regardless of the hypocrisy) about NATO through essentially copying what he's done with the Donbas, but is he really going to launch nukes over it? I don't think so.

It won't because this is russia, all journalists will be expelled and all social media will be blocked. Anybody suspected of anything hostile to mother russia will simply disappear probably into a hole in the ground. Chechnya wanted to break away from russia look what happened there (you can't because the russians effectively made the whole place a closed area even today information is very sketchy what happened/is happening but you can bet it wasn't pleasant)

Everybody saying Putin is a madman, he's not, he's smart, he knows the West has no appetite for conflict, he knows the worst they will do is sanctions, he knows Ukraine has inept leadership, this isn't a bluff for him, it's a bluff for the West that has been called. The question everyone should be asking, is NATO a bluff and does he think it is and does he after his conquest of Ukraine, call that bluff ?
It seems the West believe everything can be solved diplomatically yet you just have to look at Putin's moves to see it cannot
