I think people need to calm down with nuke panicking. We’re a million miles off that yet and I’m not even convinced his top bods would let him use them if they thought he was losing the plot. They don’t want their family and friends dead.

You can tell a lot of them are already uncomfortable with his actions.

I agree; it would need to go very, very far for this to end in nuclear war; for starts a move into a NATO country and I'm not so sure all of his top people would go along with that; let along launching nukes.
There was a lot of reports that there are senior military figures very uncomfortable with Ukraine let alone walking into say Poland, Latvia or Estonia.

Could it be that Ukraine would rather have a long protracted guerilla war, where they can drag it out, gain more sympathy and support from the west - as opposed to trying to meet the Russians in an open field and getting rolled in a day?

As long as they use the square formation they'll be unbeatable.

Basically Ukraine got sold lies and propaganda of western support and elected the wrong people in power who had unlimited funding from the west. NATO eventually wanted to pull a move similar to Russia installing missiles in Cuba.

Russia said NOPE. Now Ukrainians are suffering and the West can't do anything. Europe is facing an existential crisis, it needs to distance itself from other parties across the Atlantic and work with it's neighbors that shares borders with.
Balance at last.

It's got no choice they've played right into Putins hands and China for that matter. The west is just too greedy.

I just dont understand. Why is putin trying to invade Ukraine?

Has Ukraine done something terrible to russia?

Are Ukraine a threat to them in other ways such as financial gains or become the new easter europe super power?

Does Ukraine posses unlimited resources that russia are lacking? What?

He sees Nato as a threat and wants to stop Ukraine joining Nato (unsure if there were ever plans to), if that happened he would have a Nato member on the border.

He also is a nutter and wants the good old days of the USSR back, Ukraine being part of that before independence in 1991.

So are the reservists armed yet? I assume they already are , if not they bloody should be.

Those tweets are for remaining civilians to take up arms? All seems a day or 2 too late but maybe that's easy to say with hindsight

Anyone thought that he could have been diagnosed with some terminal illness and this is one last ego trip?

I didn't realise how old he was. He's at my parents age and I absolutely wouldn't want them in charge of anything important

There were rumours of Parkinsons disease and/or cancer.

Ukraine has been moving "Westward" toward Europe since its independence from the USSR in 1991 and was never really under "Putin's thumb" - why shouldn't the people of Ukraine have been free to choose their own path away from Russia/Soviets?
They were heading for the EU and NATO long before 8 years ago
Simply not true Ukraine had Russian friendly government in 2013 that wanted to increase ties with Russia. Protests funded by the west took down that government.

A group of us were planning on going to a villa in the mountains in Northern Romania in June, I just text my friend (being sarcastic) asking "Can you see the Ukranian border from there?" and she replied "No.....not yet :p "

that for sure is possible, if true, that could be extremely worrying for the world

Pondered it - his health didn't look great in a couple of recent videos and his whole demeanour seems to have changed the last few months.

Belarus have been helping Russia, some unconfirmed reports special forces snuck into Kiev main airport via Turkish Air Force

Weird situation with those Turkish A400M's that arrived last night. I thought at first that these would be delivering weapons from Turkey to Ukraine, seeing how the Ukrainians already operate Bayraktar TB2 drones, and have more on order, so that these could have been making an expedited delivery from Turkey. Then I saw reports that these A400M's were actually under Russian control, with a contingent of Russian special forces aboard offering safe passage to take Zelensky and his entourage out of Ukraine and into exile in Turkey. Then there were reports of a firefight breaking out and explosions at Borsypil Airport, and nothing more about it after that.

Really odd situation, does anyone else know any more about this?
